I bid £10,001

I run 32 front and 34 rear. Id rather have that little bit extra grip on the back and sacrifice wear and acceleration. Also if you are doing a track day or going round the ring, Id drop them further as the added heat will increase the psi. On our trip to the NC500 last year I dropped the fronts to 30 as I knew the car was taking a prolonged hammering.
As for the above regarding the maximum tyre pressure as stated on the tyre, this will be to account for the tyres on much heavier cars and for different uses. Running anything over 40psi is absolutely bonkers and should not be advised by anyone on a Boxster

I have the Spyder performance Valved exhaust with Carnewal 200 cell manifolds, sounds ace, two modes Asbo and Hooligan!!!
Yea it seems the lack of cats is the issue.
I've refitted the baffle for the air intake and that's made a surprising difference, so that's at least progress. I'm going to go see my exhaust guy that used to make up my jap systems and see if he can squeeze some sports cats in.

Another vote for protex. Got all the green stuff off mine and then made it look like new

Ah, that’s good to know. Thanks.
Yea i got caught out with that as well. Ended up having to use the Protex kit to restore the colour. Which was a great kit TBH

I cleaned and reproofed the hood yesterday @Finbox, using Fabsil gold. It goes on really well with a wide paintbrush.
Just to let you know. Fabsil has uv protection. Fabsil gold doesn't.

I'd have thought the older you get the deafer you get so it evens out....

If I’ve understood this correctly the exhaust system hasn’t got any cats in it at all. Once a year that could be tricky 🤔
This might also explain why it’s so much louder - there’s almost no sound attenuation in the system now.
Expect that with some mileage the carbon buildup will help moderate the noise - mine certainly calmed down after a few thousand miles.
I have a solution for that yearly issue. Im going to go see my exhaust guy though and see about some sportscats

Thank you for all of the replies
@map It had 4 cats, 2 were removed when the backbox was fitted, it was loud but I do love a loud exhaust. However the other 2 have now gone with the race manifolds and its overly loud and very raspy. I'm hoping that evens up when they carbon up.
@JonSta I have looked at this too and know exactly where you are talking about. Its one option. The other option is to see if I can adjust the actuator on the switchable exhaust.
I really want to make this work as it cost me a small fortune to get the manifolds fitted (9 of 12 studs snapped and had to be drilled out).

Just had a look at that and it seems the filter sits in the bodywork void between the wing and the engine compartment.
Mine is currently all in the OE locations.
I now wonder if the source of your excess noise is the MRN intake. That’s positioned right by the passenger shoulder and is dragging a lot of air into the engine. That intake airflow will be pretty loud.
Can you swap the intake back to stock and then compare?
I've fitted the baffle back on and its slightly quieter now. The intake is definitely making the issue worse. However I'm still leaning to the manifolds being the issue, as my mate was behind me in his beemer and he couldn't hear his own engine over the noise of mine
-
On tame mode its fine. But for comparison
Tame mode is only slightly quieter than loud mode before I swapped the manifolds
@map Ive fitted the mrn cold air system. Is that similar to yours?

Hi guys
I have finally pushed it too far. Ive had a designtek switchable exhaust on for about a year, and decided to put the race manifolds on as well.
Got those fitted along with an induction kit. And im about to say something that I never thought I would ever say.
Its far too loud
Has anyone else done the same and had the same issue?

But his is a 987.2.
My point is that where he bought them from might do 987.1. I have no idea either way

@Jonttthas lights like these iirc

You must have a relatively new car. With many here, if they try to torque up the manifold bolts they'll disintegrate!
Just had my manifolds changed. 9 out of 12 snapped 😭😭

I have one on mine. Well worth contacting @bally4563 to get one made up. Definitely makes the chassis stiffer

Gearbox mounts maybe needing attention?

I can't see past the spyder/ designtek/ topgear exhausts for value and quality tbh

I had this on a 200sx. Was the cam chain tensioner.
It could be absolutely anything. My advice would be to get it checked out asap just in case.

Sounds dramatic. From my childhood they were a very trusted brand. Quality not what it used to be - no warranty support? I thought several people here had those or their predecessors (was it the 120?), didn't hear of problems.
I think Im just unlucky. Just out of warranty and the face fell off damaging the touchscreen. Still not sure how it happened my car is low and stiff, but not that stiff 😂. A replacement touchscreen is nearly £90. So thought its better to move on.

I had a 230dab pioneer just fall apart on me. Ive ended up with a road angel. But I wouldnt recommend that either as the software is pants. The Kenwood is meant to be a good option.

I do like the look of this, would it work on a 987.2, is there extra gubbins under my bumper or the same? I dont use mine in the wet but what happens to the water that runs in?
You can get clips to hold it in place. But its really secure so I dont think I need them. First one I seen it done on was a Cayman 987.2. So Id say you will have no issues
Water just runs straight through.
Its meant to give extra cooling to the radiator.

As a 6ft 6er in a 987. Best thing I did was to space out the steering wheel. Gives loads more movement behind the wheel for your legs
