anyone had a non OEM screen fitted with correct specs and all well?
My screen replacement was non-OEM. It's been fine. New glass is better than old glass, definitely.

When I was knocked of my bicycle a couple of years ago the Police were extremely helpful in chasing up the persons insurance details when they did not respond to calls/ texts from me. They hadn’t reported the accident to either the police or their insurers (who were also very helpful to me) - ended up being paid the price of a new replacement bike for my 10 year old one.
You did a lot better than I did in similar circumstances.
A car pulled alongside me in Central London, then turned left. I was knocked off, crash helmet impacting the kerb & the car drove over my front wheel & forks. As I picked myself up, the driver jumped out protesting, "I was indicating." Two small children in the back of the car were howling, obviously distressed. I turned my attention to the kids, calming them & assuring them I was okay. Moments later the car left the scene & I was left to carry my broken bike in search of a cycle shop. I took no details, none were offered & I paid for the bike repair.
We don't all handle shock in a rational way.

I messed up big time.
Was crashed into on a roundabout on Saturday evening.
We stopped, I took photos of the cars, police turned up (neither of us called them), officer insurance checked us both, didn't breathalise (possibly not a traffic cop, maybe dog unit?) and told us to get off the dual carriageway. We exchanged phone numbers. He wanted to go our separate ways and pay our own bills, I said no it needed to go through insurance, eventually I relented and said I'd at least get a quote first before going through insurance. We were texting the first day or so after it happened but now he's gone quiet.
You didn't mess up at all. Someone crashed into your car & unsurprisingly you didn't perform like a robot while dealing with the aftermath. I'm glad no-one was hurt & I hope the insurance company earn their premium by handling it well on your behalf.
Best wishes.

I'll get some. I'm happy with the sound of my car but would like less of it in the cabin.

I replaced the whole of my exhaust last year. I chose Dansk to avoid drone. A very good outcome, a little louder than standard but subtle.Cost £2.5K . Money well spent.

Thanks for the information, all very helpful & it sounds less expensive than I had thought. Cruise control is great for Motorway runs.
-
When I push the cruise control button, the green light appears on the dash. But when I try to set the speed by pushing the stalk, it doesn't work - nothing happens. It was working perfectly until recently. Any clues to what might be the problem?

A simple 60 second check of your tyres would’ve saved you having an advisory on your MOT history.
I always give my cars, a thorough check over before an MOT.In my mind, (possibly a little OCD) I really want to keep the MOT history as clean as possible.
Obviously a catalogue of items suggests neglect but advisories aren't necessarily an issue for me. Evidence of full rectification becomes part of the history.

Picked it up after full Lanoguard treatment. Having had some rust issues with previous 987.1 promised myself this would be priority on the new 987.2.
Can I ask what it cost? I've been thinking about booking mine in.

On opening the front and rear boots the carpets were very damp. The seller said he’d jet washed the car and water had probably got through the seals.
He wouldn’t let me drive the car, instead going through all the gears while talking loudly (could’ve been the noise of the engine).
I noticed what looked like an orange Engjne management light on the dash and a red light that looked like the boot was open. When he stopped he immediately switched off the engine. There was barely a second between him stopping, switching it off and getting out.
If a jet wash penetrates the seals, so will heavy rain.
If you suspected he was talking loudly to conceal something, did you ask him to be quiet & let you listen to the car?
Did you question the lights on the dash?
When he stopped & switched off immediately, did you ask him to start the engine so that you could listen to tickover?
His answers to these enquiries would have been enlightening.

Two of my boxsters had exactly this issue. One on warm restarts and other totally randomly every 20 to 30 starts. I asked about getting it cleaned but was told the starter is relatively cheap and since its a remove job to clean better to put a new one in as there is no guarantee how long the cleaned one would last.
While I admire the principle of fix, a new replacement seems more cost effective.

Wow! By that milage I would have needed x10 sets of rear tyres 😂
My tyres seem to hold up well but I'm on my third set of mats - I do like clean mats.

careful - you do know it will implode into a worthless piece of scrap at 100,001 miles?
How dare you use your car for the purpose intended
Enjoy!
I know the consequences. I was delighted to get such a lovely low-mileage example, it meant I could use it freely.

38 months, but still good use. If the weather's bad, I use the 2nd car & leave the Boxster tucked up in the garage. I still seem to clock up the miles, it's just a pleasure to drive.
-
I've had the car since Christmas 2021. It had 44K then. The main problem I have with the Boxster is getting out of it - it's such fun to drive.

Are you sure you aren't just holding the key too long, so the starter motor is still engaged when when the engine is running? My son's girlfriend kept doing that for the first few months after she passed 😀
I'm sorry to hear it was fatal. I'll try to avoid holding the key too long then.

I will be leaving the car into Porsche Belfast this evening and hopefully they will find a diagnostic slot over the next week or so.
Best of luck. Hope their findings are less disastrous.

I wish my car came with a red roof. Cosmetically, it's the only change I'd make. My black soft top is in fine condition & it would be a silly extravagance to change it.

I drive my old Boxster quite quickly but not close to other traffic. When the boy racers turn up, I act my age.

Dansk drone

I had a complete system replaced on my 987.1 with Dansk at a cost of £2.5K fitted. It doesn't drone. I wonder if replacing only part of the system is causing your problem?
