Project 387
in 987
It's been a pleasure to watch the car come together, finished to an admirable standard. Your appetite for work seems extraordinary as you prepare to leave this project behind only to embark on a loft conversion. Very best wishes, I hope your work is richly rewarded.

Scots are a generous nation.
I've found this to be true but I'm only speaking about people in & around Glasgow. I went there to do a week's work & stayed for a year.

not sure how he can claim "full Porsche service history" and then in the next sentence indicate an oil change outside the Porsche network.
I noticed that too, but most of us do an interim oil change. That doesn't interrupt a full service history, it augments it.

That’s really bad for them.
Theres a tech from Precision who posts regularly on 911uk & offers loads of insight & advice for Pork owners. They seem like a really good outfit & I hope they get themselves sorted after this set back.
They've done all my servicing, a very good outfit. I'll go along and check out their new facility sometime soon.
I'd have been heartbroken if my car had been caught in the fire, but tougher still if it's your business that goes up in flames. It must be an insurance nightmare.

I don’t know any details how it started. Where did you get that “understanding” from please?
I now think it's unfounded. I read it on another forum but there's no supporting evidence.

Yeah such a shame for them but at least everyone was ok. I was booked in with them for some suspension work, which I’ll rebook when they are up and running again.
They're already relocated in Ringmer, BN8 5SY. email & contact numbers remain the same.

Don't you start that!!!
Everyone loves to blame an electric car lol. I hope it wasn't and this is probably more anti-EV propaganda.
"The fire is believed to have started in the roof of the building."
A different company. I was referring to Precision Porsche. Photos taken on my last visit.

They sent a letter to all customers and it mentions cars damaged and destroyed. Terrible for everyone. There will also be the various tools and parts they have accumulated over 14 years. The building is also attached to a sister company, a body and paint shop. Hard to imagine that was not affected but the office and toilets are in between.
If I understand correctly, the fire began with an electric car.

As a regular customer, I've just been advised that Precision Porsche has had a serious fire. They've now relocated their business.

Anyone of a nervous disposition would do well to avoid entering the reg to wbac at the moment.
WBAC are knaves. They're no measure of the value of a car, in my experience.

Hi all, new member of the club after purchasing a 2005 987. She is beautiful and looking to purchase antifreeze top up. Where do peeps go to, to purchase and does it need to be ‘Porsche’ related?
Just want to look after it as best I can and get things right. Thank you
Definitely use the Porsche product, for me. Not crazy money.

Still getting the battery low, start engine message when getting in the car. Think it’s worth just getting it replaced before I get to the situation where I can’t get into the frunk? I’m off on holiday at the end of the month for a couple of weeks and am nervous about leaving it sitting for that amount of time.
Don't you have a neighbour who's dying to drive your car while you're away?

Dont I just, well at least it might help others in the process lol. Got another in the pipeline 2005 987 sports chrono fsh (seen the service book) 54k miles 8k seller has owned the car for last 6 years. Looks decent.
I'm always staggered that these cars change hands for such low prices. Mine's done 73,000, no sports chrono and I'd feel robbed if I sold it for 8K.

Someone who's looking to " trade up "
Well maybe you can afford to get a low price for your car. If money's an issue, it's terrible timing.

I will not be selling her for 6 or 7 grand I can guarantee that much.
The forum never seems to talk up the value, it's something I've noticed.
Autotrader is a useful guide, comparing yours against similar examples. Of course that's only a guide to asking prices.
But if they sell quickly, they probably fetched something close.
I have to wonder who sells a convertible in October / November?

I'm wondering if I should register.. I really would feel a bit daft going in to the dealership (Belfast) in a 23 year old Boxster when everything around me is £100K +..
No need for that concern, I've found my OPC very welcoming. Enthusiasm is shared.

it's not only the engineers but the people controlling the budget, and they will have axed several improvements to cut costs without us ever knowing.

That seems pretty high on the labour cost. I thought it was a 20 min job to replace?

Clever hands-on folk like you, save yourselves money with expertise but maybe you're less aware of indy pricing.
Precision Porsche are a top outfit. I also asked them to test drive the car to make sure the recent upgrade to GT3 Master brake cylinder had improved performance. The technician said my brakes were better than the ones in his Cayman.

I’ll start the remote guessing with:
Brake pedal switch or ABS sensor.
Good luck sorting.
Full Marks iborguk, it was the brake pedal switch. £18.98 for the part, £71.25 labour, all served with a rich VAT sauce £18.05.
Codes cleared & all is right with the world.
Thanks, Mc

I’m guessing it’s actually PSM.
Correct. My brain was fried by error messages. It's going to Precision Porsche on Monday.

Hope this is right. Sounds like a cheap fix.

I'm hoping it's something trivial. I'll book in with precision Porsche to track down the problem.

It looks a cracking car, to me. Lovely colour, 2 owners & sensible milage.
What have YOU done to your 987 today

From other posts, I've formed the impression that it needs to be another battery connected to the fuse box rather than another car. Doesn't quite make sense to me, but that's my understanding.
