Really wish I hadn’t sold the hardtop looking back at those pictures 🥲

Did you show your workings on the hardtop refurb? It looks like very fine work. I'm interested in adding sound deadening material which might involve re-lining the roof.

Which side is yours leaking?? If your passenger side is good I might see if you'll sell me the rubber from that side to see if it solves mine??

My drivers side is bone dry and it doesn't leak when using the soft top.

Mine leaks on the Driver's side. When I get around to replacing the seals, you're welcome to the one's I scrap. I don't think they'll be of much value to you, my car is 19 yrs old.

I really like the look of the hardtop and might give zentrum a call, they do my servicing  see if they can set it up, I think I'd pay 1000 to sort the problem out to be honest but yes, really glad I've got one, not many knocking about. Never seen another in the flesh with one fitted.

Once I've got a perfect fit & seals made good, I'll get it resprayed to match my car ( seal grey ) but it looks okay already. I may also consider putting sound-deadening materials behind the roof liner. I'd like a bigger change of character between hard-top & cabriolet.

I still have a small leak, only really notice it when a pressure washer hits the spot. The car is garaged & usually left tucked up when it's raining.

I took it to Precision Porsche on Monday but they want the roof for a whole day to examine it in every detail. They've quoted for a full set of new seals fitted at just over £1K, if required. I've agreed they can have it in late summer, to sort it completely before next winter season.

    I'm still pleased I have a hard-top.

  5. A one hour dash to Precision Porsche for some help with the hardtop. Only partly fruitful but another hour's drive home. Such fun to give the car a blast after the days of endless rain, when its been tucked away in the garage.

Precision's new workshops are quite salubrious.

On the dehumidifier bags, you do have to take them out to dry them every now and again either on a rad overnight or in the microwave (if appropriate) to drive off the moisture they have gathered.

Yes, the microwave is the most effective. When my car seemed to be damp, I dried the two demudifier bags every day. They worked quite well. Once I had a garage, the bags became redundant.

As a complete exhaust anorak, ANY aftermarket exhaust is going to have some form of drone, usually between 2-3000rpm - it's the nature of the beast.

I replaced the whole exhaust with Dansk - no detectable drone.

Rhetorically I ask one more question; how many of you have been in collisions where the front airbag has been triggered? Me, never in 40 years. (Shows how boring I am).

Me, never in 51 yrs but some of those years predate airbags😀

I really hate cleaning the wheels after ever drive and I'm thinking about putting ceramic pads on to reduce the break dust.

I'm not an aggressive driver so stopping distance is not an issue. Do they reduce the dust enough to justify the cost?

When I last checked, Ceramic brakes were a £6000 option. That's quite an expense to avoid a bit of dusting.

Had a rear O/S slow puncture repaired. 🙄

My nearside front keeps losing pressure. I've been back to Halfords twice, they've taken the tyre off the wheel twice and replaced the valve. Nothing wrong, they say. Goes way down every couple of weeks. One yr old Michelin PS4S, lots of tread. Not sure how to proceed. I've just ordered a small electronic pump but obviously not a satisfactory situation.😒

  11. Someone got a little too close to the back bumper of my car. A very slight dink, just enough to break the paint & dislodge one of the lights over my number plate. The light fitting is broken. I'm guessing that OPC is probably the best source for a replacement. Anyone else had this?

For the moment I've held the light in place with a bit of gaffer tape but I'll get it sorted ASAP.

Re the WBAC valuations, I was recently in email dialogue with East London OPC enquiring about a 4.0 GTS they have in at low 60s, he sent me a screen shot of a WBAC valuation for my GT4 at 44k, and expected us to go from there.

Needless to say, that conversation went no further. Standard mark up at an OPC appears to be at least 10k.

    WBAC are knaves.

I was once offered a "take your pick" directorship in a company looking to head hunt my engineering skills.

The only sticking point was that, as they did a lot of work for BL, I'd have to give up my Sprintex'd XR4x4, and drive a company Allegro.

    I declined. 🤨

I seem to remember that the head of design at Longbridge went to work in a Ferrari.

I am a Michelin fan for performance tyres.

have used continentals as well. No issue there.

    Generally not a Pirelli fan.

    +1

Pirelli make good calendars but their tyres are second rate.
