  1. Apart from the irritation, tailgating is just bl00dy dangerous. I'm not interested in duelling. If kids are hanging too close behind me, I just slow down & force them to pass.

On Monday a van ran into the back of the car behind me. I watched it all happen in my rear view mirror & because I had some space in front of me, I pulled forward to avoid a rear shunt. I did stop & give my details as a witness. The two ladies in the car weren't clued up at all, I had to advise them to photograph the damage. The three abreast oafs in the van didn't seem to have a brain cell between them.

For anyone in Chichester/Portsmouth area,  just had a Minor service done at Autotechnics  Porsche specialist, ( next to Harbour Cars ), it was £495, inc Brake fluid change. Was warned i need to prepare myself for next one,  Major, with plugs, Belt, PDK Fluids.  My wife recons £1500, i am going for £1200  ,haha.

Thanks Alan,  I live near Chichester and have visited the Harbour Cars showroom but didn't know that there was a Porsche specialist on site - Useful info. I'll drop by and check them out.

Yes, both corners look pretty grotty.  Not sure what to do really.  The screen will need to come out to treat a bit of rust when I get it painted but I don't know when that will be.  A windscreen guy I know can't get 986 screens.   I'll have to hope a stone cracks it, maybe a seagull will "drop" a stone on it!!

It's surprising how many things can break glass.😜

Put the wipers in the service position - turn ignition on and off then press the wiper stalk down to the flick wipe position. Wipers are then parked angled across the windscreen.

    Top Tip.

I got 5W50. Usually on a Monday they have deals. And use their app - it gives you more money off. Currently at £59 for a 5 litre container which is still not bad but if you can wait a bit just keep an eye on it and you'll get a bargain. Try this link.

Thanks, I'm in no hurry but I'll watch for Monday deals.

Very disappointing indeed. But on the bright side I now paid £84 for 10 litres of Mobil 1 with AUTODOC (and if I had used their little app it would have cost me £72). That is something for which I am willing to wait a week or two. And just to add insult to injury my local OPC wanted £114 for a 5 litre container of the exact same oil...

Do you have a link for mobil 1 from Autodoc? That seems a very good price.

I’m looking to mount my 986 hardtop on the garage wall to keep the floor area clear.  There are a few options out there, storage ‘bags’, wall hooks as well as a factory option…

I wondered what  if anyone has used the official Porsche Tequipment version? Part No 000 044 000 21.

On its own it’s a wall mount but can be combined with the Tequipment trolley too.

    Thanks

I'm interested in a wall mount too. I imagine it's the same part number for my 987. I've no idea of cost.

I usually try and avoid supermarket car parks in the Box, but if I do, I always try and find a space that minimises the chances of damage.

found one today on the end of a row and  despite what it looks like, I was just about within the lines at the front - this is a single row of spaces so they are a bit longer than usual 😁

Interesting that you feel more at risk from car doors than from moving traffic entering / exiting the car park.

You should try out a Cayman as well, just so you can see how much better it is compared to a Boxster.... I am pushing my luck there, I know, but it's sort of expected now 😄

A silly suggestion, the retractible roof doesn't work on any of the Cayman variants.

Planning on using the trombone cleaner on the rear drains for the first time tomorrow - previously it’s been a wire coat hanger, but thought I should upgrade!

quick question for those that use them  - on the rear drains, when the end comes out the bottom, do you pull it through from under the car, or pull it back up? Seen posts that suggest both, but pulling back up ‘could’ damage the pipe?

I've always pulled back up. No damage to report.

if anyone is on the fence over whether or not they want Paul (Torque Boxster) to do a suspension refresh, my advice would be 100% do it. You will be amazed at the difference it makes.

You've probably mentioned it elsewhere but can you say what it costs? I'm tempted, definitely.

I paid a company to do it, I took all the pieces off I wanted covering and hey did the rest.

They clearly knew what they were doing.
