Just reading the workshop manual and its quite contradictory... these 2 information points are next to each other in the grinding down parking brake instructions....
So which is it, not necessary or must

I think that is a little misleading you don't grind down anything! It must mean wind down the adjuster.

I have had it on previous models of Boxster where it is impossible to remove the rear discs due to the handbrake shoes and you have to back off the adjuster, but on the 981 they came straight off.

The 981 still has the same (primitive) way of adjusting the hand brake shoes as previous models, but with it being electronic it can fault out if the gap is to big or small.

Your V2 should work, I think its EPB in the SERVICE module. It just cyclols the handbrake to measure the movement and tells you if its in limits. I didn't check it with the old discs but after fitting the new ones the left side was on the minimum and right was above maximum movement, so then I had to adjust the stupid cog thing on the handbrake adjuster until it came in tolerance.

  2. I bought standard Pagid pads and discs all round from Euro car parts and have done 3 track days on them. The pads will need replacement before another I think but worked fine. I have thought about a set of Pagid RS29's as I have the rears, but from previous experiences there to noisy on the road.

To change the rear discs you could with something like a Carsoft V3 to measure the electronic hand brake gap.

You will need to change the brake fluid to Motul RBF600 to stop the brake pedal getting spongy.

Most Macan owners have the optimate leads permanently connected at those points.

its where I connect mine when I lay it up for long periods

Yes I have them permanently connected on the 981 and might look at getting another for the Macan

  4. A quick google and USB3 is 0.9A 5V and 4.5W, USB2 is 0.5A 5V and 2.5W.

Found there is a 12v outlet in the boot of a Macan, a bit wary of using either USB or boot socket for fear of blowing something up🔥

  5. I noticed the stop start hardly kicks in whilst driving the Macan and recently we have only being doing short journeys in the car and its charging at over 15v all the time. Thought it best to plug it into a CTEK last night.

First problem no cigarette lighter sockets just USB's, second problem were is the battery😄. Looked in the boot and then under the hood and spotted a little flap by the washer bottle for the positive connection and a earth post just near it. Hopefully it will revive the battery again.

I know I'm in the minority but I struggle with the cost of PPF these days as it's getting to the point where it's costing more for the stuff than repairing or in some cases replacing what you are trying to protect in the first place.

Yes I've only done the windscreen due to the old one getting 3 large chips in it in 1 year until it finally cracked, then hassle getting it replaced. I'm not a big fan of it unless its new car.

Not to give out to much detail but the place that did my windscreen had a P car in for all its PPF removed prior to some accident damage repairing. The approved repairer insisted all the PPF was removed to ensure colour match and warranty the repair. So several thousand pounds worth in the bin.👎

Picked up a chip in the windscreen. Drivers side in the drivers eye line. But here’s the annoying thing. Too small to repair and doesn’t affect the screens integrity. So apparently not an MOT failure 🤬 As such I doubt it’s an insurance job. But I haven’t approached them on it as I’m of the opinion they’re going to say following an inspection it’s fine and a change would only be for cosmetic reasons. Which I doubt they would pay for. Price I’ve been quoted for an exact replacement is £535 fitted. 🤬🤬🤬

Just had a replacement through my insurance company, if I'd had a crystal ball at the time I would of paid for the screen out of my own pocket and not had 4 weeks of being f'd around. The replacement is a St Gobain screen as the original but the gap to the frame seems larger all-round.

I've gone for PPF on the new screen to avoid going through that again

Rather than keep swapping my Carlinkit between cars, I am considering just buying a 2nd hand iPhone se 2nd gen for around £50 off Fleabay.

Never having used Apple products before, presume I just have to set up an account, download Car Play, Waze, TomTom Amigo, Google Maps etc., stick a data sim card in and leave the phone in the car connected through the USB with a lightning cable?

I've considered this, but wondered if the iPhone would run off a hotspot from my Android phone for the apps.

Also which kit have you got now, I see the newer Carlinkit5 is only about £50 on fleabay now

  9. Finally at last my windscreen has been replaced. 3 cancelled visits by the firm sent out by Saga Insurance...it has been a real saga.

Also today replaced a rear control arm on the suspension which seems to have solved the billiard ball rattle coming from the rear:bana:
