What  a cracking cake 🎂 mate and welcome to the 50 club. Have a nice one 🎂

Thanks all for the best wishes.  Might be able to franchise the cake design if you're in the Northampton area.

Spent the day travelling to work in Norway (Ryanair from Stansted 😬), still worse places to be once you get there.

MOT today and pleased to say it passed with a few advisories which was good.  Slight corrosion on a brake pipe and some slight corrosion on the inner rear disc surfaces which I already knew about.  Getting them sorted in a few weeks during its service at my local Independent specialist.

Took it to DW Performance for a major service, first since I bought it.  All filters pretty clean and plugs condition tallied with the service record.  Couple of minor issues, small water leak confirmed in left lower rubber pipe to alloy Y pipe and a small leak in an AC line joint so a dying seal.  Also had gearbox oil changed, oil was old but good. Gear change is now very smooth.

Will need coffin arms all round soon...

Also if you are in the area of Wellingborough they are hosting an open day with auction and raffle to raise money for cancer charities tomorrow... see their Facebook for more info.

Fitted new anti roll bar bushes and along the way replaced the under-tray clips which were corroded or missing.

Also replaced missing plastic clips on the battery cover. By mistake I overordered from design911 and have a couple spare if anyone wants them. Just PM me and I will put them in the post.

Fitted new headlamp washer jets.  Now the spray hits the lights and not the rest of the county.

Also pre-celebrated my 50th for tomorrow (25th March).  My wife has a friend who is a cake maker, not bad.

It is only a number that happens to represent the number of times a piece of rock has orbited a huge nuclear fusion furnace at a distance of approx. 93 million miles.  What's to worry about?

One benefit, most competitive quote to insure the Boxster this year was SAGA!?!

And after with new head unit, CD storage and ash tray removed to give some storage space.

Head unit is a bit glossy but the RGB colours have got quite close to the original.  Useful space for phones, wallets and purses etc.

Funny it was not that long ago the cd holder was hard to get and getting one fitted was nice. Now it’s get them out and standard storage is best again.  I do agree with you more useful space. 👍

Removed the NS rear wheel to have a look at what the access is like to replace the 02 sensors.

Unfortunately was faced with this -

The brake pad is in two pieces !!! I'm mortified, we've just come back from nearly a 700 mile trip! The pad still has plenty of meat on it though?! I've never seen or heard of anything like this happening before?!!

Not that it is much consolation for you - have had this happen to me once (rears too) and I remember that it's a real shock, especially as I'd been leaning pretty hard on the brakes and not felt anything "different"

Looks like a bonding failure of the compound to the backing plate.  What brand/spec are the pads? Have they been on track?

No idea as they were on the car from the previous owner but he didn't track the car and nor have I.

I had a lesson/masterclass with @Patt in headlight restoration today. He is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and very patient (he makes a nice cup of tea too). It was a pleasure to meet him and I'm sooo pleased with the results 😊
