  1. If you do not declare your mods and have a crash and the insurance assessors spot the mods, worst case scenario you are uninsured.

That said, most assessors would not notice but is it worth the risk.

Also factor in that with some more obvious mods, if you get pulled by a savvy RPU Police Officer and they can see the mods, and they check with your insurer and there are none declared, they can do you for that as well.

  2. Some dealers wont retail vehicles above a certain age as they do not want to dilute the forecourt.

Every single car you post will get opposing opinions from forum members and you will overthink it and talk yourself out of every single one.

At the end of the day, at sub £10k you are not going to get a perfect car regardless

  3. They probably have the minimum amount of claim handlers trying to deal with far too many cases... but yeah, nothing will change. Its easier and cheaper to throw a little bit of compensation at the small percentage that complain

  4. So after the insurance claim was resolved, I got a "How did we do" email from Axa.

I took the time to convey how they were about as much use as a chocolate tea pot and how if the claims handler had put half as much effort into getting a response from the 3rd party insurer, as they did to trying to get the repairers to reduce the bill, it would have been sorted much quicker. I also pointed out that it only got resolved when I contacted the 3rd party insurers myself and submitted the footage directly etc.

I did not realise that my feedback would start a proper investigation into how they handled the claim. I have now had an email from them apologising for the issues and they could see various emails from myself went unanswered and mentioned how they could have been more proactive in chasing the 3rd party insurer.

So long story short, they have sent me a cheque for £225 for my inconvenience.

Is the wheel center cap correctly aligned..?

I am a rebel... sod the purists!

All I did was hold them up, spray the bolt hex ends (not the collars!) and then stood them up on the windowsill to dry. No Jaffa cake boxes were hurt by me

Just adding "corroded wheel nuts" to the list of stuff to knock the price down with

But they are not corroding... in fact, they were not really to start with..they were just a kind of dull granite colour (as per pic 1 ;) )

Also, my work has added value to the car, not taken it away :P

  7. Yeah, looking on Autotrader for 987.2 3.4 the asking prices seem to be about that for lower spec cars.

I guess the trick is finding someone that realises (and cares) what the differences are between a poverty spec / average spec and every box ticked spec.

Still undecided what to do but the Cosworth is not advertised currently (it is a friends car) so I have time to consider. Drove it for the first time in a week yesterday and of course when you open the roof and press the PSE button it does make me grin

Don’t drive it, you’ll ruin the tracking and probably a wheel bearing!

It turned out that the collar was not missing, it had just become detached from the bolt and was hiding in the wheel still! All reattached to the bolt now

  9. Car has just ticked over 81,000 miles which means since I bought it on 15th March (a full 5 months ago) I have covered 1,500 miles in it. 😬 It pretty much just goes back and forth to work a whole 16 mile round trip each day.

Just cleaned it for the first time since painting the bolts and it does indeed look a lot better. Now that the bonnet and front and rear bumpers have been resprayed there are only the usual stone chips round the side vents.

Doing the man maths on a Sierra Cosworth that I have been to see so potentially I could be moving this on. I am not sure on price, think I could advertise it on Auto trader for £22k and wait around but think it would sell quick at £20k.

    Decisions, decisions,

  10. All finished... although one of the locking wheel bolts is missing its washer/collar so will have to look at getting a new set or see if I can get one replacement bolt.

  11. Today I have cleaned and repainted the wheel bolts.
Now this is something that I would not normally do, but knowing how fussy some buyers are, especially when paying top dollar I figured I should get it done ;)

Before and after in the same pic for you
