Ah really? I didn't notice that but I'll check again - thanks 👍

It might be on the PCM settings thinking about it... its in one or the other

Think so - certainly been the case for both my 987.2.

You can tweak it with individual memory or PIWIS - I think you can have - lock when above speed ( maybe 8kph?) , lock when ignition turned on, unlock on ignition off ( might be imaginging that) or "don't". Also think you can mess around with "unlock just unlocks drivers door, or both" from the fob from memory. I *assume* 987.1 is the same.

You can change it in the settings using the OBC stalk on a 987 to set autolock at above 5mph on or off

Blimey. Adding up some numbers, or actually seeing the original sales invoice?

Got a good idea from the original options brochure on here, but the final figure from someone I know who works for Porsche.

  4. So this week I have established that the car was £60,490 new... a mere 50% extra over the standard list price!

I also managed to complete covering 2,000 miles in the car under my ownership.... a bit shockingly bad really considering I have owned it for 6 1/2 months!

  5. No car new in 2005 would have been Electronic service history. If it was me, I would be wanting the seller to buy a new genuine Porsche service book and get all the services, brake fluid changes etc fully stamped before buying the car. £10 says he wont / cant do it.

Without the above its got to be priced as a car with no proven service history to me.

Could do with getting that red exclamation mark read on code reader, searching amazon now.

Code reader will not read that. A sstated higher up the thread, it is just there to tell you there was a message in the bottom screen like "low fuel" etc.

On closer inspection both bumpers would need repairs front bumper lacquer was cracking, rear bumper was spilt all the through, looked like a Stanley knife cut it it was so clean! Would not move from 8k.

Plenty of others around in better condition at similar money. Thats about £1k of work on a car with 112,000 miles on it

I have some similar bubbles below the driver's side engine bay vent on my 986 and it is the metal rusting from the inside.  I took it to a body shop about 3½ years ago.  They guy there has repaired/restored a lot of Porsches and other decent stuff.  He said if you can live with the look paste the inside of the panel where the rust is with something like CV grease.  This blocks out the air and water to stop it deteriorating whilst you work out what to do.  I'm still working out what to do but there has been zero deterioration.

@Mattman42 gotta be £400 considering the above? #Oldoutyaaaaand

Can you guarantee that he will attend every time? 🤔

If you read my original post, I was trying (and failing badly having reread it myself) to say that its not worth not declaring mods to insurers.

The implication was there but to be clear, I am firmly in the declare all mods camp..which did used to take a while with the old GSXR1000

I wouldn’t for one second listen to Bike Loon ……. Most assessors wouldn’t notice ??
A true engineer with lots and lots of require qualifications will notice, it’s their job, a job that’s taken many years to obtain, though working in the motor trade.

I would disclose everything. Most won’t matter, it’s when the insurance companies find out is when the shyate hits the fan.

for example wraps, if they are not noted on the policy then the insurer won’t cover the wrap, worst case they could chuck the claim out.
Don’t chance it for a couple of quid ??
use a specialist broker if the car has mods.

When I had a claim on my motorbike, the assessor that turned up admitted to me that he knew next to nothing about motorbikes.

Given the amount of diffeent brands out there, I would bet that it would be pretty much impossible for a Assessor/Engineer to know what is standard and what is not on the 1,000s of different models cars/motorbikes they are asked to look at. Some things stand out but others do not.. but what do I know, I wouldnt listen to me for 1 second
