  1. PADM warning just happened to me too today after a run up and down the Strines.

981S, 2013, 47,000 miles.  Let the warranty lapse 3 months ago so I could make savings on servicing. Looks like any savings are about to be wiped out. You win some, you loose some I guess....

Does anyone know if these are coded into the car or just a straight swap?

Did you need to code the battery to the car or was it just a straight swap over? 👍🏼

As you might read in the link provided. I just swapped my battery over, no coding needed. Stop Start carried on working as expected (unfortunately) and no other issues. I just reset windows position and allowed the throttle position to recalibrate if it was needed. Details in the other threads.

That’s interesting, as your car falls into that date ranged Sept12-July14 does it not?

We’ve had this before though haven’t we, where the USA seems to get special treatment over Europe/ROW, due, I expect, to the litigious nature of their society, and potential high cost of being found guilty of any negligence. They possibly think such costs are unlikely in ROW.

It's a 2013 car so I would guess it does. I imagine they have a recalls system, she's just popped my chassis number in that and it's come back with no recalls. Which would be right as this isn't a uk recall. But if it does go at any point I now have it in writing. I could have argued the point with her but I was having a busy work day so didn't bother

I can’t say I’ve noticed this, but maybe if it’s subtle it could be there without me noticing.  Like most things, once you notice them even the most minor issues seem to stand out like a sore thumb.  However I thought the cams changed a bit higher than 2.5-3k, there is a distinct change of character around 4K that I always assumed was the cam profile change?.

It is very subtle and only really noticeable when diving like miss daisy on light'ish throttle. I think its down to the VarioCam and Variocam Plus (one is timing one is valve lift) and I guess by their names they don't come in at a certain rev point all the time and they both work together in some pattern to decide on what timing and lift are needed depending on driving style and load. Pop it in sport and it's not as noticeable. Hoof it from low revs and you don't notice it at all. Ive experienced the same in the 4 981s I've driven so far (2 owned, 2 on test drives).

Maybe the 4k you notice is more or the valve lift being increased with a mix of valve timing too as it knows you want to get to the horizon as quick as possible?

Don't go looking for it if you haven't noticed it or it will bug you for ever more :)

  5. There is a little hesitancy/flutter around 2500-3000rpm, feels like a single misfire that goes away after one missed spark, very minor nothing heavy but just about noticeable if your looking for it or your senses are on alert after a problem. I had it in my old 981 2.7 and thought it was a fault but investigations ruled out any issue. Then I got the 3.4S and it has the same little blip at a similar rev. Solution is to drive it harder so your race past that point and you never notice it :) I think its down to the change in cam profiles which happen around that rev range.

You really have to ask if a boxster is diesel  ?

They are specialist insurers, many car owners will have fitted different engines to their cars, upped the capacity, popped in a V8, maybe someone popped in a diesel at some point. They will have a generic question list that covers everything from your bog standard customer with a Mondeo or the home built kit car running a chip fat running diesel engine

No, I think I missed it’s the standard size on the GTS.

The option of the bigger tank is available on the other 2 models

Looking at the technical specs, the larger tank is standard on the GTS where as the 65 litre is on the other 2

  8. I don't know how the prices compare as I've not bought that one but had to buy the other (well Kwik Fit did) and when I collected it Porsche told me they were the expensive option wheels. a single front one £1826

A 2013 model with 39500 miles with a poor extras list, no PSE

They both have PSE. You can see on the pics of the buttons. It is just the Exeter one had it retrofitted later and the Hatfield one was built with it. Easy to tell given where the button position is (known from owning 2 boxsters one with and one I had pse retrofitted) and as it's retrofitted the lazy OPC just took what spec as on it when built from th system rather than the current spec I would guess.

The Exeter one also has very expensive wheels on it...don't ask how I know!

Deposit paid!!! I got it for £1500 less than the sticker price and I sold my RR to a Lookers Land Rover in N London for £1500 more than I’d been offered anywhere else. But more hassle to sort it out and I can’t collect for a week or so due to sorting out a ref transfer, but...WHAT A MACHINE!!!

Congrats! Great price for a good spec 👍

Thanks @CMA, yes Bavaria in the one independent German specialist that I know of, but a chat with a friend recently gave an example of a colleague being ripped off... of course to be clear I have no details, but not too great. I will of course be fair and do a bit more research on them. Cheers for the help.

Of course you could still ask their advice on what they would recommend is done to your car, find out what they advise. You may or may not eventually use them but you would have at least another opinion on what might be needed to compare with other garages opinions. You could also take it there for the basic service, get the list of items they advise are changed/fixed. Then take that list elsewhere if you're unsure of their charging/honesty. But as others say, they aren't that specialist that a good solid garage can't look after them for you.

Good luck on your new journey and keep us updated on how you get on 👍

Not even sat in one before, hope we like it! We just find the RR Sport too big and the running costs are terrible come service time.

I'd not sat in one until the OPC gave me a loaner of a brand new Macan GTS, now I really want one just can't justify the cost....yet. For me the GTS is the sweet spot in the range. Very different to a RR Sport though. Enjoy the test drive.

  13. Having different tyres front and rear is fine as long as you are aware and drive to their limits. I had PZero N0 on the front and PZero N1 on the rear. Much less front grip than rear. Once the N0 got worn down I had Michelin PS4S on the front. Much more front grip that rear now. But I just drive to that knowledge. Once the rears wear out they will get the same PS4S on them and all back to balance.
