I think I can see that it is possible to code these things out by the way. I'm not sure how it would work in practice but the option is if they were replaced with standard mounts.

Coding them out would be a good option but my mind wanders to the question of what would happen to the longevity of the transmission/mounts if Sports Plus was used a lot without the extra dynamic mounting function one would give? I guess it's not a problem if you never use Sports Plus though, although if you bought a 2nd hand car you wouldn't necessarily know it had been coded out.

Just looked at the battery display - its at 11.9v.

Do you have the car unlocked and the key in the ignition to see the display? If so then the volts will be lower as there is a drain on the battery as the modules are powered up, fuel pump primes and other things. The only way to reliable test the voltage of the battery is on the battery with everything disconnected.

I too have mine coded to ' remember last setting' which is usually off. Unless you are playing the mpg game.

Who and how was this done please? This is something I'd like as I hate the infernal stop start annoyance on the Boxster and the Macan.

  4. To see the voltage on the dash I'm guessing you have turned the key on, thus turning on all the electrics in the car, causing a drain, which would give you a lower voltage than it actually was. Mine shown 11.9v too when I do this.

Batteries are not normally covered under the warranty if they've degraded dues to age or lack of use. But be careful if someone offers to fit a non Porsche battery that any future electrical problems may not be covered by the warranty given its a non Porsche battery.

That one ^ looks pretty neat.  Any chance of posting a pic please @CMA so I can see what it looks like in situ?

Bit late now but here's a pic of mine. Although I think I like @mapsolution, looks much nicer, just not sure I could get on with it blocking a view, might give one a go though.

So i e-mailed them specifically asking if Active engine mounts are covered and reply was yes 🙂

They aren't engine mounts, but transmission/drivetrain mounts on a 981. I imagine they are still covered but as we all know the insurance bods behind warranties love to get out of something on a technicality

  7. Shoulder wear can be caused by more than just tyre pressures.

Taking Michelin, and following their advice, as you say they know tyre pressures better than Porsche, they state here:

    https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/tips-and-advice/advice-auto/the-importance-of-the-correct-tyre-pressure

The correct tyre pressure for your vehicle can normally be found in your owner's manual.

    and

If your tyres are over or under inflated enough to be considered un-roadworthy, reading this article could save you 3 penalty points and a fine of up to £2,500 per tyre.

Also you can click through the Michelin site to find their recommended inflation for your specific car, which unsurprisingly matches Porsches recommendation too. Nowhere can I find on Michelins website where it states you should ignore the manufacturers recommendation and set your pressures to 10% less than the Maximum shown on the side of the tyre. So as you say Michelin know their pressures better and yet they recommend the same as Porsche....

Tyre manufacturers know a lot more about tyres and tyre pressures than car manufacturers do.

I always look at the maximum pressure listed on the sidewall of the tyre, knock off 10% and inflate to that. It will almost always give a higher pressure than 'normal' and it's not always right, but my experience shows that it's a better starting point than those given by the car manufacturer.

Really? Not sure if you're serious or taking the Michael.....

So my Michelin PS4S have a max tyre pressure of 50psi, so based on your rule I should be running at 45psi? That would be dangerous, cause excessive wear on the tyre and give a horrendous ride comfort compared to the manufacturers recommended pressure of 33psi.

I think I will stick to trusting the multi-million pound research both the manufacturer and the tyre maker have made and follow Porches recommendations rather than your experience. 🤣

😳Why are they so expensive to service?

Just had my Macan GTS into Bournemouth the cost for a main OPC service on that was £700!

Something has to pay for the expensive showrooms, Porsche loan cars and training trips to Mallorca for the sales teams. Yep, just spoke to Edinburgh OPC about something to be told they are low on staff as a few are in Mallorca on training. Nice job if you can get it!

Any ideas Daz where to buy this part or is ir OPC only?  Might be worth re-joining PCGB too as I think that qualifies you for a discount on parts.

I'm in no rush to do it as plenty going on and the car's perfectly OK to use.  I drive it mainly in Sport mode and my wife standard mode, so Sports + doesn't get a look in on the road.

OPC really the only sensible option I found. Plus you can get a discount the same as the PCGB discount without joining them, just ask the parts guy nicely, try another OPC of yours is not moving.

I believe the part is like PASM, not on/off but adaptive to how you drive along with setting of normal/sports/sports+ So hooning around in Normal or Sports still causes the mount to stiffen to some degree. They are not solely for Sports+ as I understood it from my research. But I believe it's still ok to drive like Miss Daisy with the fault given it is only a yellow warning

Maybe a bit of rain water has got into the connection.

The connections are pretty damn tight and have the waterproof seal in them, a common plug design used across the VW range on many connections. I'd be very surprised if it was water ingress.

The only thing my 981 (non S) is missing is the PSE.  Anyone got recent prices on a retrofit.  It is an OPC only job or could a good independent do it.  I only want to go OEM on the exhaust side.

@Greenman I think bought a second hand unit and had a local place fit it but still needed to go to Porsche to have it all coded in, it's far more than just an exhaust, with valves and vacuum pipes and a new switch block on the centre console.

I was lucky I negotiated in one being fitted as part of my OPC car purchase deal. But I would say it's worth the money having OPC fit it, gives you 2 years warranty on the parts too I think.

The tracking has been done recent rear trailing arms changed and new sway bar bushings.

Assuming you have correct tyre pressures and tyres are not ancient, has it only recently started doing it or done it for a while? Did it start doing it after the rear arms were changed? If so, was any rear geo done after they were changed?

You say tracking was done, did that only adjust the front geometry? Maybe this having been changed has made the rear stability worse and more noticeable? Full 4 wheel alignment at someone with a hunter setup and experience of the Boxster might be a good idea

Forgive my ignorance, what’s OPF? Very relevant as I have a 718 4.0 GTS PDK on order so all information is of major interest.

    cheers.

I think they might mean GPF rather than OPF which is:

Gasoline particulate filters (GPF) are used to remove particulate matter from the exhaust gas from a gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine
