Doesn’t the Audi Q5 one fit the Macan?

    https://www.travall.co.uk/audi/q5-8r-2016--/travall-divider-tdg1530d

Alternatively I’d be asking Guardsman for a price just for the divider.

Q5 has a different internal shape and also a very different standard back seat guard. So the divider wouldn't hook on it like that shows in the pic. Nice idea though.

I've already asked for the divider on its own but they refuse to sell it me and gave the very valid reasons of it wouldn't work with the Travall guard I have as it sits further back in the car, pushing the divider into the boot lid. Meaning a new window would be needed if I closed the boot. :)

One option would be to buy the complete Guardsman kit including the divider, then sell your existing one separately.  I'd imagine most people would only need the non-divider version anyway, so it should be an easy sell on ebay :thumbsup_still:

That's the current plan, just waiting to see if Guardsman have a spring sale in the next few weeks.... It's a shame as the Travall one is so easy to fit and remove and looks neat, whereas the Gaurdsman one looks a bit naff and with the fittings into the boot makes fitting the boot liner a pain and easy for the dog to pull down and claw at the leather on the seats.

  2. Looking for any recommendations for a dog guard divider, we already have the Travall Dog guard to separate the boot from the back seats but we need a divider so we can split the dogs in the boot.

The only one we can find is the Guardsman one, but that only comes with a dog guard too and we just need a divider

Any other options out there any one else has seen? Google hasn't thrown up anything and Travall only seems to do a divider for the Cayenne

    Assuming you don't have ceramic brakes, for an 981S front caliper bolts are 999 067 053 09 (M12x1.5 x 85mm) and rear are 999 073 402 01 (M12x1.5 x 72mm).

    Thanks!

More trouble than they are worth those sensors and it's dead easy to see how much pad is left by peeping through the wheel. Not worth the outlay putting new ones in.

Always worth keep an eye on the inside pad too as they can wear quicker than the outside one

Thats 2 new rear calipers, bolts, nipples for the front calipers and pad retainer clips.

Reasonable result, seeing as otherwise i would have to wait until the car could visit the OPC for evaluation in second week of Jan.

    That's an awesome result.

Any chance of getting a pic of the part numbers for the front and rear calliper bolts please, might have to do mine soon

I took my Boxster S to the local drag strip"

So very sticky tarmac well rubbered in, not your average road. Pop a set of slicks on, strip out the interior, remove the roof and you'll probably shave of another few 10ths. Still not representative of real world driving on real roads.

Are there any implications with insurance or Porsche extended warranty with spacers.

I know the default answer will be “just take them off before…” but that’s cr*p advice for when you’re upside down in a hedge and the car is going to be hoiked off to a garage.

Spacers and longer wheel bolts can be seen as a modification so if undeclared it gives an insurance company an easy way out of not paying the claim, especially if the accident is put down to the modification that wasn't declared. You only really find out if you have an accident, then its too late and you could then be charged with driving without insurance alongside a hefty bill.

With the warranty, if it's a faulty roof claim, they would be hard pressed to prove it was caused by spacers, but if the claim was for a failed wheel bearing/hub/suspension, that then gives them an easy get out for not paying the claim. Remember the extended warranty is actually an insurance product, so they always looks for ways to not pay out if they can.

Had the wheels powder coated Satin Platinum today, as I thought the silver was a little to bright for Carmine Red.

Looks a lot classier now....what do you think?

    They look superb! Great choice

40K miles or 6 years on a Macan.

The Macan PDK box is different to the Boxster PDK box. The Macans is a tweaked VW S-tronic box built by Audi, whereas the Boxster/911s PDK is a unit built by ZF. I had S-tronic in my old Audi, that had similar 40k service interval.

Don't affect Warranty if Porsche parts are used

As above, don't forget the Approved Used, extended warranty is actually an insurance product and very different to a new car warranty. So they can stipulate you need OPC servicing to renew or if a claim is made and you didn't have the OPC do the servicing they have an easy get out.

Am I missing something here with servicing. I always thought it was just minor/major every two years alternating between the two. Of course there are additional expenses for items that have a time service such as PDK service.
My car is 10yrs old next service but no one has mentioned a 10yr service 👍

A 10 yr service is just the 5th service of the cars life. In the old Porsche Fixed price paperwork they used to show all services as 2yr, 4yr, 6yr, 8yr, 10yr, 12yr. They didn't differentiate between major/minor plus extras.

Now that my car is not going to an OPC for servicing, it's looking like a t*ss up between Steve @ GoshallWerks (nearer to me) or LaRose. Both seem to have decent feedback in Google reviews and I know that LaRose got taken over by the Eporsch guys, who have a good rep.

I had already reached out to Steve and his price is the same as LaRose. Decisions!

As my 10 year is coming up next year what sort of price are they charging? And what does it cover?

Mine went through MOT without an issue with the PADM fault still showing.

Was that without any advisory too? If so then one does go again I might leave it as it has no impact and I don't use Sports+ often

I wonder if anyone can actually tell what they’re doing.

I’ve not experienced non-active mounts so can’t speak from experience but I bet I’d have to concentrate really hard to notice the difference.

I've had 2 981s, one without and one with and you can tell the difference at the extremes. Same as I imagine PASM and Non PASM feels, but I've never had PASM on a boxster so I'm just guessing.

They are also painful on the wallet when they do fail as I found out.

Apparently they adjust based on various parameters when sports chrono mode is activated.

Gearbox mounts only but they operate in the same way.

    https://www.total911.com/technology-explained-porsche-active-drivetrain-mounts/

I was told on my Porsche Experience day by my instructor they ware active all the time just adjusting to different levels based on many parameters, same as PASM and Traction Control does.

Not many Independents near me, so OPC with a courtesy car would be easiest.

What part of the UK are you in? The collective here may know of a reputable indy in the area that might save you a few quid over OPC prices. You can update you location in your profile to give others an idea if you wish

I think I can see that it is possible to code these things out by the way. I'm not sure how it would work in practice but the option is if they were replaced with standard mounts.

Coding them out would be a good option but my mind wanders to the question of what would happen to the longevity of the transmission/mounts if Sports Plus was used a lot without the extra dynamic mounting function one would give? I guess it's not a problem if you never use Sports Plus though, although if you bought a 2nd hand car you wouldn't necessarily know it had been coded out.

Just looked at the battery display - its at 11.9v.

Do you have the car unlocked and the key in the ignition to see the display? If so then the volts will be lower as there is a drain on the battery as the modules are powered up, fuel pump primes and other things. The only way to reliable test the voltage of the battery is on the battery with everything disconnected.

I too have mine coded to ' remember last setting' which is usually off. Unless you are playing the mpg game.

Who and how was this done please? This is something I'd like as I hate the infernal stop start annoyance on the Boxster and the Macan.
