Yes, the one in my photo has the swappable tips. But I have used the same bracket on a older exhaust with the fixed tips 👍🏼

Cheers Map, that's really cool of you, I could well end up needing those U bends, I will certainly be in touch about that, thank you!
Hanger bracket:
The strip that goes across the top of the exhaust? part no - 996.111.241.00 if so then yes, it came with it, seems to be the same part for the 2.7 and 3.2.or do you mean the triangular one that's currently attached to the car, part number 996.111.226.02.
Thanks!!
The hanger for the 3.2 looks like this, just for you to double check against. Talking from experience be gentle when removing it as the two Allen bolts at either end are fragile!

Just called them both....
First link - from £169
Second link - from £350! I did have to confirm with this one if I was getting a spanking new one from an OPC, but no, they just repair the fault.Might be rewatching Wheeler Dealers at this rate to find out who they use... 😆

Thanks @iborguk👍🏼 will drop them an email.

Sourcing the correct salvage cluster is tricky and a new on for just this would be wallet cringing but 15% off parts for Porsche Classic Register members if the OPC fits !! Hope it doesn't come to that.
And yes, 2.7 seem readily available and a decent price, but for a 3.2 you need to double it and add another £20! Not sure how they justify it

From Porsche?? It isn't a listed part.
No not from Porsche. Although I haven’t rang them yet, but like normal it’s just a standard part across VW

Video that actually works unlike above....

Not a user servable part?
I feel I may of just been a little heavy handed. You can get a stepper/ pointer motor replacement which I would assume is the part that is now broken as the needle spins almost 360 and then gets some resistance but will then spin almost 360 again but in the opposite direction.
But to access the motor all the other needles need to come off to remove the circuitboard from the back. So it's back on the car for now until I pluck up the courage! Until then I have a very cool looking broken gauge!
Hopefully someone else is able to suggest something to try in the meantime 🤞 -
So managed to get it off and all back together. Needle was slightly off the 0 mark with ignition on so took off again and back in the right place. Now the needle has gone floppy and just moves around on its own 😑
-
Has anyone replaced their gauge faces in the 986?
The needle is off but there is a small black disc which appears to hold the face in place. It's very brittle (don't ask how I found out) 😶 and looks like it should be pinched together to remove.Ideas?

Did my console in my 03 Arctic Silver and the extra bits around the head unit. Used my brothers Anniversary 986 as inspiration
also did the hooks on the back of the seats, not that you can see much behind the belt catchers

Let us know how you get on
My frunk has been temperamental for a while and for £17 it’s probably worth starting with that switch

Are you hoping to increase rear traction like that old TG episode with the ropey 3Series 🤣
-
Worth it in my eyes. Did mine last summer, dead easy too

Arranged a trade in on my 987.2 against another marque, so it’s goodbye to the forum which I’ve really enjoyed, it helped me through the early days of Porsche ownership 5 years ago.
Best wishes to everyone.
John
And can we ask what you've gone for?

Very easy on a 986. So can't imagine much difference on a 987? Good thing is you have plenty of room behind to make sure they're secure without worrying if its too neat.
Bit of hot glue which can be removed in the future if needed without leaving marks, cable ties to hold in place whilst it dries. Once they've been cut off you can't see anything 😄 -
Mine arrived today. Looks great 👍 very nicely made.
Will report back on fitting when I get round to it!
Thanks @bally4563

As given earlier in the tread, this thread:
Think we were after pics of one that’s been made by the guys before install.
For those that want pics of it installed in think there’s better ones on Pedros garage 😁

Pics would be good 😁

Short of taking it off my car , no pics, however doing one tomorrow, so I can photo that.
Enough interest/orders, (5 or more) will do them for £50 with fittings and posted. One offs £60
Would be interested also! 😃

During this lock down ... I have been messing about with the gear change. I had fitted a short shift but I didn't get on with it. So that came out and the 987 shifter mechanism went back in. It was still not self-centring very well so I took the gearbox end connectors off, gave them a good clean, removed the slight rust and put some copaslip on. This has improved things a lot.
Also I really didn't like the standard shifter so
Not to everyone's taste but it feels a lot better in the hand and it shortens the throw.
Nice ball. Hand made/ polished?

If it works it works!
Wonder like you say how much noise will be come through, and also heat.

Changed the drivers door handle microswitch. Fixed my window drop issue and now the central locking works 👍 £15 from eBay.
How did you find doing it, simple? Do you have a link to the part you used. I understand a VW part can be used
What have YOU done to your 986 today ?
