  1. Garage just said their machine doesn't have the porsche data and they are waiting for a software update to have the Porsche one added... bunch of useless tw*ts.

They won't accept the figures I want to give them to use as they need the machine to have the parameters in so they can see the traffic light colour warning visuals.

Said if it's not downloaded the data by tomorrow morning they will ring me. Told them to at least straight the rear wheel out so I can drive it away rather than flat trailer again.

  2. So just seen a Facebook owners page post on this... thought I'd copy and share it here for extra info and other experiences. 👌

I’ve previously used Renovo on another Boxster I had. Didn’t like the finish it left, as it turned the roof a bit glossy. Thought I’d try this fabric dye. Made a brilliant job and didn’t even need to mask off, as any minor spills just wiped off with a cleaning wipe and paper roll. Took 20 minutes to do and leaves a factory natural finish. Used an ordinary small kitchen pot wash sponge to apply. Just got to fabsil it now for weather protection.

I also wiped a little bit on my seat bolster, that had some scuffing and the colour had scrubbed off. It coloured it up instantly and then I just wiped the excess off with a paper towel. re-dyed the leather a treat 👍

250ml (£10) of Royal Blue fabric dye. They do canvas dye, but it’s dark blue and thought I’d start lighter and go darker if needed. Colour booster (£10.50). Mixed half the dye with quarter of the booster, so enough if I needed a second coat, which I’ll do again before it gets garaged for winter.

Anyway, the mention of the Blue roof turning Black is enough to deter me from risking it

Yeah I'm the same to be honest... I quite like the blue contrast.

I have just had a look on autodoc (the app) and the ZS178 are £20.10 each but it says it is not compatible with my 2000 2.7, which is a shame as the ZS177 is £62.87 and out of stock. prices with 27% discount

In the app just keep the parts in the basket and wait till the current offer ends to see what the next discount amount is. 27/39/41%

I know the product colour isn't an exact match - dark Blue is good enough for me.

I know @Sanky used renovo and even though it was supposed to be dark blue, it pretty much went black. Could have been due to the application but don't know if I'd want to risk it having seen his in person.

  6. 2 years on and it's time for mine to be done soon. I still need to take your car out for a spin @Sanky

So ive been watching a vid at La Rose Porsche which was very informative around a full suspension refresh. The part that I wanted to share here was the kit they are using for the alignment... looks very funky.

44m 25s in to see their setup. Is that similar to the hunter kit that I've read about on here?

  7. Well I'm 100kg ballast to begin with 🤣 so prolly better off filling the tank up before going down. I think the tank is up the front behind the axle if I'm correct.

With regards to driving styles... I've only ever know this car as very very tail happy due to shyatety old tyres I was running for 18 months. Then all the suspension bits they've taken off were in a right state

All the bushes and rubber perished so it's going to be a night and day difference.

I hate understeer and used to love Turing in whilst trail braking in my mr2 turbo.

Either way will be loads better. 😀

Go default.  Make sure they select Sports Chassis as your I believe had standard suspension before the rebuild.  It makes a small difference to the camber setting range.

That's exactly what I was after mate. Cheers!

  9. This thread hurt my noob head but was good to learn a bit.

So im hoping to get my car back after having a full suspension overhaul inc all the arms, shocks (Koni Active), springs (H&R m030), drop links etc... Im booked in to have the alignment and camber done so before i go next week, should i stick to what the factory default or suggest any deviations from it?

My car is used daily for short trips and weekend blasts round the dales and im also looking to take it on track a couple of times a year.

    Cheers in advance. :)

Now that's what is is supposed to look like!!!

The only thing you haven't fitted is a Bally Brace @bally4563 aka Techno Brace.  Again like the GT2 ducts and easy fit later but it just stiffens the rear structure a bit more particularly if you are planning to track it from time to time.  Think bottom brace rather than top brace.

I've got the brace and it will be added... erm.. just not looked into where it goes yet @bally4563. Haha!

Been rushed off my feet with work and this shyte. Thank god for WFH! Trips to Leeds and back to Bradford and the garage and the engineering place. 😛

  11. So finally my local garage have managed to make progress after all the hiccups on route... missing top mount bearing from my shopping list, calliper threads gone in the wheel hubs, inner cv boot split... ohh.. top tip, the inner cv boot on the S is a different part to the non S models. The non S ones part number starts with 996, the S one starts with 986! Missions trying to find one locally but managed to get one from Strasse indy in Leeds.

This lovely thing was parked there...

And finally one corner is all done!

Fingers crossed should be dome by the weekend then will need to book it in for camber alignment and wheel alignment.

Well with fresh suspension and track tyres a 986 should be a decent tool on track.  Maybe get some of the bigger early GT3 brake ducts/deflectors/air guides for the front, they are not a lot from your local OPC and dead easy to fit, particularly if the suspension is in pieces already.  996 341 483 01 for left and 996 341 484 01 for right.

Can they be fitted easy afterwards? Cba with another trip to Leeds OPC. Lol

  13. Today I remembered I had an extra set of rims I bought off a mate shortly after getting the car 2 years ago. 😅

Sat in the corner of my garage they are/were a freshly refurbished rims with track tyres on.

I might swap them over on the car just to see what they will look like.

    Current rims...
