That should definitely not happen. Check your oil level manually just in case the electronic reading is faulty. Of course, oil pressure switches can give spurious readings when faulty. Might be worth changing the switch for the few quid.
from memory, the oil pressure switch is activated at about 7psi so very low.

How many miles has the car done?

Will check it today, it's electronically 2 bars below max line and it's due a service in the next couple months.

Milage just tipped over 82k this week. Will hook up the code reader and see what it says fault wise.

  2. So interesting one yesterday,  whilst driving I had to do an emergency stop at some lights. I braked really hard and firm but making sure I didn't lock up the wheels although I was close to the limit.

It was ever so slightly on an incline and then a low oil pressure warning light popped up in red for about a second then disappeared.

Anyone else had this before? Is this normal or should I be concerned for the track day in May?

  3. That looks great mate, i like the ingenuity and simplicity of that solution. :)

Id do the same but i really want a good mount solution to use with my S24 Ultra so i can record some driving clips with it.

The price’s really are unbelievable. Supply and demand I guess, just like the 987 sports back seats!

Without doubt supply and demand. I just bought a 986 back box in mint condition from the US for £130 locally there (still need to get it shipped at extra cost)... here rusted shyate boxes on ebay for £400/£500 due to the salt on our roads.

Can you imagine how p*ssed off I was that I missed a very rare grey one for about £60.  Facebook is rubbish at just showing you new stuff from your groups and it's getting worse.

I have tracked down someone who can supply genuine carpet and I even a have the plans to have one 3D printed.  Can I find someone with a big enough printer, no!!!

If you pm me the design specs and i will ask about for you mate as i know a couple of people who might possibly be able to point in the right direction. If we get enough of an interest we might be able to do a group buy if you can also get the carpet.

I really like the look of that but like you... i also use the little cubby hole there although i do have a glovebox too.

One for the nice to have list for now.

Nice one that man. Hopefully it will be on your old one. Not sure why mine is missing, but a guess would be that the nuts had rotted away as that bolt & nut is mild steel. It had the clamp bolts changed about 8 years ago and I guess it was removed then. 👍

Considering the state of my back box... you might not be lucky! :D

That sounds so bad when you read it back!

Ahh cool the one on the back... yeah not a problem mate. I presume my existing one has it on there and if so you can have it mate FOC. You can just cover the postage and its yours. :)

That looks like a right peach of a used exhaust. Well done. Bonus point is, you can sell the S twin tips for over £100.

Really? would be good to get some monies back from all the effort...

And if you have a side brace bar on the one you remove, I would be interested in purchasing from you as mine is AWOL. 👍

I have no idea which bit on the exhaust that is but if i have a spare one then you have first dibs. lol

@fizz crossing my fingers! :) I can't believe the condition of the exhaust you found. I wonder why these are soo cheap in the US? Nobody wants them?

Most these types of cars there are weekend or fair weather cars so don't see much salt on the roads.

As such, because they don't rot like ours, there must be very little demand for them hence the prices I presume.

Which delivery company did yours get sent via?

So looking at about £400 landed in the UK based on the price and transport cost you've given for this one and in far superior condition compared to pretty much any I've seen on eBay in UK and Europe.

Yeah agreed on the condition of all the inferior ones available locally.

    @Norbert guestimate...

    Exhaust: E-money conversion rate £131.47 GBP = $159.00 USD / 1 GBP = $1.2094 USD (Fizz- i paid this via PP)
Postage: £188.76 (this was what i paid (Norbert))
    VAT: £61
    Import duty: £0

    Total: circa £381

The seller will have to give you a tax invoice! It's really important, without invoice the border crossing will be slow. Depending on the shipping company, they will ask you to pay the VAT when the item is delivered (and sometimes they only accept cash). A reputable shipping company will take care of the border crossing, pay the VAT for you (could be £10-15 admin fee charged here).

Great find, it looks immaculate for 21 years old.  Do they fancy making a business out of it?

Don't forget it could get slapped with duty by HMRC when it arrives in the UK.

I'm already ahead of ya and told my mate if he finds any more then to let me know. According to @Norbert who was kind enough to share some info with me on his purchase process, there will be UK tax (20%) but no import tax the part is made in the EU.

Lets see how this process gets on and if the shipping is worth while for my mate to do it again for others who might be looking for a stock replacement. :)

  13. So... ive had a bit of progress and who would have thought that having friends overseas from online gaming would come in useful in such a scenario.

We have a whatsapp group between 3 of us as we met on xbox and are all petrol heads. I explained I'm after a backbox from the states and within a short time one found the exhaust and as luck would have it, it's 20min away from the other chap in the group. He's agreed to pick it up and pack and send it over for me!

It appears to be a very good condition 2003 boxster S exhaust off car that had 36k on the clock.

    rXSm3jf.jpeg

He should be collecting it today all bring well fingers crossed!

So bought it for $150 (circa £118) and considering the condition of uk examples on Ebay range from £300 to £500 quid for rusted or repaired examples, even if the cost of shipping is another £250 quid I'd be happy!

I hope it arrives as good as it looks.

It's a good point that you need to know what you are getting. £499 is id bet a price for the exhaust box, no cats no manifolds. Custom manifolds would be at least £499 again.

Correct, this price is just for the rear silencer/back box because as you say manifolds and cats would almost tripple that price.

    Hayward & Scott in Basildon.

They used to be very popular in the m2 mr2 scene back in the early 2000s and I knew a couple of the mr2 turbo lads have brilliant custom made systems from them. Back then they were considered expensive option too.

Nice to hear their name pop up again and that they are still in business!

  15. So i was also directed by a few local bods to a chap called Tony Banks who is based in Leeds and specialise in custom exhausts as well.

Dropped an enquiry over email stating details of my car and what quote they would give for a custom back box and this was the reply...

    ------------------

     Hi

Thanks for your e-mail about a stainless steel performance exhaust for your  Porsche. There’s no problem with that system we can custom build and perfectly fit an exhaust  to the rear of the vehicle, our best price for this is £499  including fitting and a lifetime, no quibble guarantee. please call tony on 0113 2798944 for more details

We also offer a  custom stage one remap, discounted by 10% if purchased with the exhaust, costs just £189.
Our systems are handbuilt from aircraft quality T304 British stainless steel of 2mm gauge wall thickness unlike our competitors that use lower grade 409 stainless steel from China and Korea. We assemble on site using only T.I.G. welders and only use T316 stainless welding rods of the highest quality.

Our exhausts are full free flow with tuned pipes and no restrictions or chambers.  This can give an increase of up to 10% BHP, 10% MPG and 15% more torque at bottom end revs. i.e. the car will accelerate smoother and faster with less gear changes.

We give an honest lifetime warranty.  We believe that this is the best guarantee in the business.

The exhaust comes with a choice of 15 polished stainless steel tailpipes from outward roll to inward roll, 2 inch to 5 inch bore round, oval, square and slash cut tailpipes. We also have over 100 different designer tailpipes to choose from.

We tailor make the exhaust to your vehicle and to your specific requirements, this takes around 3-5 hours for cat back systems.

You can choose from standard sound (quiet as a mouse) to mid mild sport (hearing the engine on acceleration) to mid sports note (Aston Martin V8 acoustics) or heavy sports (TVR Griffith sound) only for a certain few people! I will try to email you some pictures.  Thank you.

To book in or for more info please call 0113 2798966

@fizz, couldn’t you just put it down to doing the rest of BoXa.net a favour by trying Zorstec out😂   I would be interested to hear how it goes or not. Shipley is not too far so would be very interested in the outcome.

Let's drum up some interest and get everyone to chip in for my guineapig car to be done and report back accordingly! ;)

Custom back box for 500 sounds good!

Took it to zorstec as you suggested mate. 👍

The normal dilemma is how do you know what it sounds like till you pay to have it done! 😛

  18. So took my car down to a local exhaust specialist and he's found that the rattling noise i get once ive taking the car for a spirted run is most likely coming from the seam of the backbox as its blowing through that corner. My theory was that once i get it up to temp and above normal operating temp it expands more and the lose bits start to tap away against each other.

He said due to the way these back boxes are made there's little chance to be able to weld it and it will need replacing.

So he can makeup a custom backbox and tips for me with a rough estimate of £500 or i can find my own used OEM backbox and he will fit it for roughly £100.

Now i presume that this could be a potential cause of an error message i randomly get stating the banks 1 and 2 are running lean or could be a o2 sensor.

I've got the trackday in May and im thinking if i cant source a replacement backbox then you lot will just have to put up with the rattling and laugh at me as i go round! :D
