  1. There is a "Repair Kit" from Porsche (P/No. 000 043 400 14), consisting of 3 new buttons to go in the 987.1 key, shaped so they are less likely to be activated accidentally.  I got a set for my 987.1C some years ago, when they were about £25.  The kit is now £145!!!

  2. Not calibration, but I updated @Patt s PDK software a couple of weeks ago, and he seemed to think it had cured this issue.  It took about an hour, as it programs the PDK, DME, and Instrument Cluster (why?) with the latest software.

  3. I would definitely see if there are any fault codes.

The immobiliser inhibits cranking, fuel supply, and ignition.  If it cranks, it doesn't sound like an immobiliser problem.  Not sure how you tested it, but I think I would be tempted to swap the fuel pump relay.

  4. I have a Becker decoder.  Let me have the serial number, and I can give you the code.

CR-22/CDR-22: Hold down the TP button for at least 10 seconds after you turn the radio on. "Becker 1" will be displayed. Rotate the right knob (slowly) and it will display the Becker model number. Then rotate it again and the serial number should be displayed on the radio.

CR-21: Press tone, then 8 and 0 simultaneously. "Becker" appears. Press station up arrow on right. "PR-VERS" appears. Press one of numbered buttons below display, directly below the LCD arrowheads (try a few). The model number will appear. Press station up arrow on right. "SERIAL N" will appear. Press the numbered button again. The serial number will appear.

  5. All I can find about the high pressure system is from the Service Technik:

"The direct fuel injection (DFI) used in the new flat engines is based on homogeneous direct injection. In this process, electromechanically controlled fuel injectors inject the fuel directly into the combustion chamber at a pressure of approx. 580 to 1740 psi (40 to 120 bar) and with millisecond accuracy as required by the respective driving state."

I believe some of the HP pump faults are actually attributed to a faulty sensor.   Also, the LP sytem can cause HP fault codes.  LP pressures are 5 bar (igniton on, engine off), with a holding pressure of 4.0bar after 20 minutes ignition off.

.........., or some sort of Porsche 60s/70s chequered cloth... but I think changing the centre panels will lift your black interior without being as much work as swapping the entire interior for beige etc.

Pasha centre panels would look good.

Love the colour - it looks fab.

  7. As has been said, on the 987 the Rear BCM only needs coding as per iborgUK's PDF.  The PAS module (containg the key remote and immobiliser data) is on the 'transmission tunnel' so above the water level.  Anyone with a PIWIS could code it - even a used one from another 987 or 997 could be re-coded with the options to suit your car.

I'll let you know, the wheel appears to have arrived with two modules inside it and I have some experience in coding the steering control module.

My understanding is that sports design and chrono should make this easier. I won't be purchasing an adapter the cost Vs benefit is lacking for a wheel that's just as big as the old one.

Instead it may just go into the Cayenne as it has the same wheel without heating. I'll source a clockspring too.

On the 981, the clockspring unit also contains the steering angle sensor, and the steering column control module.  The activation codes for cruise, multifunction, OBC, wheel heating, etc., are stored in this module, so if you change it, you lose any existing codes.  The Cayenne may be the same, so best check it out first.

Yes, but my car has the sports design wheel with sport chrono so I understood that I don't need the adaptor, should be plug and play and I'll code to suit.

You may well need an activation code for multifunction in the steering column module. If you find a way round it, I'd be interested to know how.

  10. IMHO, all the codes are due to removing the PCM, and not coding it out of the system.  "C" codes are all communication faults, and although I don't know exactly why the PSM needs to be included in conversations about PCM or POSIP, it most likely does.  I would find someone with a Piwis tester, and code it out.
