Or just use this link.    Takes the fun out of it a bit.

I now know more about where you are and what the weather is doing than you do, isn't technology ....... err pointless sometimes.

I love my heated seats, I have had them in all my daily drivers for probably 15 years and they get used very frequently.  And it was an essential for me on the Boxster, cold day, heater on full blast, warm buttocks, heaven :)

I'm with @rowbos.

I wouldn't have a car without them, however retrofitting seems scary and challenging

Both our daily drives have them, but they never get used.
Had them on the MX-5, used them once in three years, felt odd (sweaty gusset), never used them again.

SLK has air-scarf which is ace and does get used.

(I do like a nice cruise, last one had an all night Mojito Bar )

Thanks for all the replies guys but has anyone done the conversion of putting genuine porsche heated seats with standard switches and wiring loom up to main loom into a 986.

Dennis Vogel how to is great but more aimed at an aftermarket solution.

Am a bit confused as Dennis suggests the wires go through the sills, yet the pics I have seen of a standard loom seem to to show it going under the centre console.

Have definitely read all the pages of a very well done How to.

We didn't get air scarf on our SLK as we both agreed that it made us feel sick in the way your neck gets hot when you are about to throw up.

As said earlier I have done it (as well as Dennis)

The cables run from the switches along the central tunnel to the fuse box and then down the sills to the seats.

The wires aren't in the main loom unless you have heated seats fitted in the factory.

I do love that warm comfortable feeling and they don't stay on too long. I don't even worry about the increase in fuel consumption!☺

wait... heated seats increase fuel consumption :o - I didn't know that! Damn! Might be leaving them off now :P
