Lennym1984
Hi, My new 987c will be taking trips to the track reasonably regularly and so I'm looking to replace the drilled discs with either solid or (ideally) slotted discs. Does anybody have any recommendations? It's for a base 987c 2.7. Cheers
Menoporsche
Thought it was only the S that had drilled as standard?

Rob™
Just had my 2.7 SE done - was told they were drilled on that one... (didn't do it myself - not suitable skilled)
red rocket
My 2.7 has drilled discs.

That was the case for the 986 (at least the 986.1; not sure about the 986.2) but all 987s had drilled discs (possibly with all the corrosion issues they are suspected of causing ...) Menoporsche
Ah. So I was right, just a few years out. (Salvages remnants of pride).
T911UK
Looks like the Sebro slotted are only available for the S cars, you dont want solid discs though! You want non drilled vented
Tony Daniel
Don't bother with the discs just use better pads. I have Pagid RS19's but a lot of people use the RS29's, either will give you enormous stopping power. Look also at the DS2500 and Carbon Lorraine (not sure of spellling) pads. Change your brake fluid to Motul RBF 600 or 660, as you will boil the standard stuff.

Drilled discs are not great on track as the extreme heat (and cycling I guess) makes them crack quite quickly so my question is not about stopping power, it's more about longevity. Lennym1984
It would appear that MTec (never heard of them) do slotted and/or slotted and dimpled discs for the 2.7. https://www.mtecbrakes.com/brake-discs/porsche/cayman-2005/cayman-2-7-987-07-06-08-09.html
Rooose
I have used mtec on my BMW's for a good few years and have always been very happy with their products. I have just changed the boxster discs all round for Brembo but in hindsight with the corrosion issues of drilled discs, slotted may have been the best option! Liberty
Iirc apec dsc2090 for the front.Who cares about the rear, just go with whatever
spyderman8
I would advise against pads as aggressive as the RS29 - which are Pagid’s endurance race pads - unless you also upgrade your cooling. Having undrilled discs is a good move because the holes just fill with brake dust and don’t do their job anyway - and are always where the cracks start! Lennym1984
I was planning to go with Mintex 1144. I had them on my 986 and thought they were a good compromise between cost and performance. That said if you have a recommendation for a 50/50 Road/track pad I'd be happy to listen
bally4563
Very happy with the Sebro grooved discs I recently fitted all round.
