981 Market

As an example I had my 1st 981 Box on sale 2 years ago on AT, with 10m remaining Porsche Warranty.

I had virtually zero interest private, but plenty of dealer interest, I needed to sell, so let it go to an indi £3k under what I wanted.

He put it straight on the forecourt, £5k above the sale price and within 1 week it was gone.

Go figure...

Always the way.  Private buyers either want piece of mind from buying from a dealer, or the car has to be a great deal to buy it privately.  I had a colleague selling his M4 was offered 2K less than he advertised it and turned it down and then sold to local dealer for 3.5K less, but he said he would rather do that then someone get it cheap.

What the difference between a private buyer and a dealer, they are both people.

I would prefer to let someone private buy it cheaper TBH.

I’m way too tight (sorry money conscientious) to agree with that logic 😂

I don't understand the logic either.

You used to be able to go on these things called holidays and get a couple of flights somewhere pretty nice for the £1500 extra he lost.

I suppose there are two types of buyers.

1. Who can easily afford the car, but gets a kick out of knocking down the price, just to brag to friends what a deal they got.

2. Someone who can just about afford the car, and you would be doing the person a big favour to meet their price point.

I don't disagree with your point above but M4s and many 981s are 10 a penny, a very low mileage car with a spec like this is not, there's a thread on pistonheads where the seller could mention the car and I have a feeling it will be gone pretty quickly, a specialist trader will be all over it too imho.

Yes the colour suits the car, it seems to be sitting lower than normal too.

Enquired about the GTS at Ashgoods and it surprisingly lacks PASM. I asked if it had the X73 instead at just received a message back saying it had 'sports suspension'.

Sports suspension is the aftermarket X73 kit 😃, 20mm drop. Have it on my 981s.

Do you really need PASM? I have it on mine but have never used it, it switches on by default if I hit SPORT PLUS but I would never switch it on, on its own. I guess if you do a lot of track days it’s great but for the road unnecessary in my opinion.

PASM is a good thing to have by not pressing the switch you are already getting a softer more compliant ride than you would in a car without it. You then have the option to firm things up if you fancying attacking a nice smooth bit of road.

In the past no I would have gone for the X73. I've had a 986 with the MO30 option and my 987 is 30mm lower but I'm getting old and want the best of both worlds, plus as people have said the PASM is constantly working.

Hi chaps, thinking of selling my 14 plate 981 3.4S. Yellow, PASM, PCCBs and manual. Went through MOT yesterday no advisories, brand new tyres and just had service. Oh yeah 13K miles. Ballpark do you think?

I sold my 2015, 20k miler PDK in Racing Yellow for £33,500 3 weeks ago. I’d just put 2 years warranty on it and replaced the condensers.

Harbour Cars called me as they’re looking for stock and made me a very strong offer.

Oh I didn’t know that, I didn’t realise is was softer than standard suspension when off. 👍

It's like a magic carpet ride. and firms up instantly when you apply lateral or longitudinal G, press the throttle harder or turn the wheel quickly.  it's almost physic😛

The difference between PASM & non PASM cars is really noticeable with 20" wheels.

👍 Not surprised, decent mark up on it too with pretty much zero prep!

Sorry, I wasn’t clear, mine sold privately as he called me first. I would have happily sold to Harbour as they made a good offer and were very straight forward.

within 10 mins of listing my car on Pistonheads I received a number of phone calls.
