Magnetic Sump plug

I’ve got the LN Engineering one. Just got to remember to advise the Indy about the torque value as it’s much less than the standard sump plug & I’ve read about them cracking if over tightened.

And replacement washers each time I think - have one fitted to my car too.

Doesn’t give me faith in their IMS solutions then!

@Menoporsche - what's the background to your remark in terms of the two LNE products?

For clarity I don't have an aftermarket IMSB installed - so my curiosity isn't driven by any sense of being "called" on a decision I've made in that respect.

Why? You can have their magnetic plug without their massively expensive IMSB kit....

"Why so serious?"

It's a quip, based on the fact that if a specialist engineering company develops a sump plug that cracks easily (ie if tightened to normal torque), I'd have a lot less faith in other of their products.

I'd imagine it's down to the inherent weakness of the material required to be sufficiently magnetic. Could just be simple physics that even their engineering brilliance can't avoid.

I like to mix it up.  I read it as a company providing a IMSB kit then also sells you a magnetic sump plug - to collect the bits from their replacement bearing? - but you could just buy the plug anyway.  I'd not picked up the concern that he sump plug can crack.
