Climate control issue. Driver side won’t get cold

Bit of an odd one. I have the dual zone climate control and today only the passenger side was cool. The driver side was air temp. Anyone had this before?

I played with the temp on both sides up and down. Passenger side works as expected but the driver side won’t get cold.

Anyone else had this?

Yours does sound like a sensor or something similar but I had a issue with mine the other week.

Mine wouldn’t seem to get warm even with the temperature turned right up and after a 50 minute drive to Gaydon.

I checked my coolant cap and it was a bit crusty on the thread so I cleaned it up and added a tiny amount of coolant. That seemed to fix mine fortunately but I was originally thinking maybe a faulty cabin sensor.

I don’t think yours is the same thing but it is worth checking your coolant level and cap👍

When my heating wouldn't get warm in the past it was one of the changeover valves in the vacuum system that was to blame.

I had a similar issue with my right hand side vent not passing warm air. It sorted it self out as I had a new battery under warranty and not reappeared since.

Maybe try disconnecting your battery for a few mins and then put ignition on (still with battery disconnected) to drain any residual power in any capacitors. Turn everything off before reconnecting the battery.

I may be talking as much nonsense as a prime minister here, but it costs nothing to try!

Not nonsense. Investigations did recommend disconnecting the battery to see if this resolved the issue when reconnecting. Sadly not.

It looks like it is likely to be a temp sensor or an actuator for the blend fins than determine vent temperature.

Booked in for next Tuesday. Be interesting to see what the issue is.

Yes interesting to hear what they say. See link below....different cars but similar kind of issue being reported when refrigerant is low, maybe a leak ?

https://www.718forum.com/threads/no-aircon-on-passengers-side.23023/

Anyway good luck with sorting...

I was thinking the same when I stated looking around. Would make sense given lack of error codes. I’ll find out soon enough!

Also, now not cold on passanger side so very likely a leak somewhere.

Condenser by the sound of it then. Get grills after it's fixed if you haven't already.

Possibly, I do have the zunsport grills, they were fitted by the previous owner. I’ll report back when I know the issue.

Not related to original post, but vaguely similar - and advice would be good from others.  My Aircon just isn't cold anymore.  I had it recharged last November and it was icy cold then.. have Zunsport grilles on.. so I'm hoping that it isn't condenser(s).  Heading back to local KwikFit (who did It last Nov) on Tuesday to see what is what..

Could be any manner of things. If it took that long to lose its temperature it’s very likely a slow leak. I imagine I am in the same/similar boat. Mine was also recharged last November.

Let us know what they find.

Car in and out of Kwik-Fit this morning. No leaks detected in their diagnostic run through. Aircon now proper cold. Strange it lasted such a short period, but back to what it should be now at least (am I the only one who is a bit sceptical about using Kwik Fit.. ? it’s just very handy for me just down the road)

Hmmmm. Sounds odd. Personally I never use them. Just a personal thing.

Hopefully yours is sorted. Did you ask of they did a compression and leak test?

Mine was supposed to be in with a local specialist today but will now be going in tomorrow.

Yeah, the generic machine they make use of does a pressure test and will verify leaks if they exist, if any detected they just unplug and send you elsewhere to get it fixed without charging it seems.
good luck with yours

Yes I don’t think it matters what name is above the door they all use similar automated kit re this pressure test and refill process.

I had my done last week and they found no leeks but said that if the car is not used regularly or for a period of time it doesn't help and only slight drop in pressure can cause it not to work properly (which is what can happen as a result)

First time mine's been done in 9 yrs IIRC

When mine failed it would last 3 months in-between recharges. Very slow leak and warranty replaced both front condensers and some pipework as I recall. I guess they couldn't find the issue so just went crazy 🤣

Bad news…both radiators corroded and leaking 1350 ish to replace and regas 🥺

I appreciate it is a 981, however that is more than double the price for 986/7 equivalent job.  Assuming that is an OPC price, shop around to a good indy or even a/c specialist.  Genuine condensers seem to be about £320 each (after market maybe £150 ea) and it should be only a couple of hours labour, so even with a few o rings and a desiccator, about £1k max with genuine parts and £700 with after market.

It’s an Indy, breakdown is below. They offered non Porsche parts but I’d like to use genuine items.

The cost of 2 no Porsche air conditioning radiators is £602.82p +VAT@20%

The air conditioning dryer from Porsche = £64.14p+ VAT@20%

Labour to remove and instal new air conditioning rads 4hrs @£90.00p+VAT@20%

Re-Gas air con @£95.00 +VAT@20%

Total cost £1121.96p + VAT@20%
