I put a Yuasu on mine in Mar 2021 and it appears to have lost a cell, cant get it about 11.9 V despite a friendly RING charger...
Cue me calling halfords and asking how I invoke my 5 year warranty....
Basically take it in BUT if there is dead cells she said that they would not replace - surely thats one of the main things that a battery fails from?
I guess the handle could fall off or get a crack? but I'm clearly missing what else a battery warranty would cover 🤪I had a similar issue with an Exide battery from Tayna. Had to send it back for checks but they confirmed it was faulty and replaced it. Then had to argue over my return costs which they refused to refund until I reminded them of the Consumer Contracts Regulations.

Do you need to take the wheel arch liner out to help get around the edge of the metal?
I didn’t but it wouldn't hurt.

I believe Designtek and Topgear are same thing. I know you don't want fancy stuff but, whatever you do, don't get the non-valved version or you are likely to get unbearable drone around 50mph. Had to get mine modified by TG themselves (local to me) to kill the drone.

When I did mine I also added a coat of Isopon Stone Chip Protector. Think I did following: sand to bare metal, Kurust, primer, stone chip, base coat, lacquer.

daviddurham did you have any luck with the steering wheel question? I have a Cayman GTS allocation that I have to confirm in the next few weeks and have just noticed this. I spoke to my sales guy today and he had not come across this and said he will speak to Porsche tomorrow. Like you have said, the standard spec states that the car has a GT multifunction steering wheel yet the picture has a normal steering wheel. There is no way to spec anything other than a GT multifunction wheel in carbon or a normal GT sports steering wheel, both no cost options. There is therefore no way to spec a leather multifunction wheel of either type which seems mad! If this isn't a glitch I will have to choose the least bad option which isn't good start to an expensive new car!
Need to tag him like so @daviddurham

Just to complete my part of the thread: redyed my Grey hood a couple of weeks ago using the Scratch Doctor product and result is great. The product appears quite 'thin' - from my days in the leather industry I would say more dye than pigment - but coverage and colour levelness are excellent. I used less than 300ml for the first coat. Only did a 2nd coat because I missed a couple of spots as I worked in the garage to avoid the risk of uneven drying and possible lines in bright sunshine. For 2nd coat probably used 200ml. I mainly used a cheap, thin 4 inch brush from B&Q with the foam brushes from Hobbycraft coming in handy for edges.
I wiped runs off the windows with a damp cloth and found any drips which dried on glass or painwork were also easy to remove with a damp cloth.
Here's some before and after pics which don't really show the result properly and I don't think the apparent colour change is as dramatic as the pics suggest and tones nicely with the Atlas Grey paintwork.

As others have said, love the wheels. I think they really suit the Iconic body style.

I’ve previously used Renovo on another Boxster I had. Didn’t like the finish it left, as it turned the roof a bit glossy. Thought I’d try this fabric dye. Made a brilliant job and didn’t even need to mask off, as any minor spills just wiped off with a cleaning wipe and paper roll. Took 20 minutes to do and leaves a factory natural finish. Used an ordinary small kitchen pot wash sponge to apply. Just got to fabsil it now for weather protection.
Brilliant! Good to know. Thanks for posting.

Wow, looked at some vents on eBay at around £350 without the frames!
Pretty sure I bought 2 individual vents, one Silver, one Black ,with frames for a total of approx £80. Easy to repaint with some rattle cans. As Bally says, you just have to keep an eye out.

Where can these side vents be purchased from?
Usually ebay from Steve Strange or one of the other breakers or possibly privately but, as Meno says, make sure you get the frames too.

Going to be doing my Stone Grey hood soon. Bought some Dark Grey dye from Scratch Dr. It comes with a 'Colour Boost' to aid dye penetration plus sponges to apply it. Have also bought a set of foam 'brushes' from Hobbycraft plus a thin paintbrush as I figure I may need something for doing the edges. I got Scratch Dr to give me RAL colour reference so I could check it against the existing hood colour. Fingers crossed it's not too dark.

But more importantly, does the top of the binnacle at least match the rest of the dash Rob? 😉

Did anyone fit these yet (there was a link last year for a cheap price - mine are still sitting in the box)
Wondering if anyone has fitted yet and how you found them? what shocks did you use (if changed) and did you do top mount, coffin arms drop links etc?
Thanks guys
Pretty sure @bally4563has fitted them on various cars.

hi noticed bilsteins b4 are only 160 odds at design 911, is this a good deal?

D911 usually have the best price on B4's. Presume they have a special deal with Bilstein as for most things they tend to be on the expensive side.

Does anybody know where you can get sensibly priced Black rear boot Porsche lettering ? I’ve looked around and the genuine Porsche lettering is £70- £80. Which seems ridiculous for plastic letters.
Usually from AliExpress. I got mine that way. Might take a bit of searching though as suppliers come and go.
Edit: quick Google search throws this up for £10.67

I was stuck 100 miles away from home with this problem so bypassed the switch by joining the two wires together....I never replaced the switch, it's really not needed.
There's a video on that too, albeit on a 986

I’ve had the intermittent depress clutch flash up before starting even when I’ve depressed the clutch pedal.
The clutch switch seems the most likely culprit!
it’s pretty cramped under there - ducting in the way etc.
Any good methods on how to do it appreciated!
Thanks!
Several videos if you search YouTube for '987 clutch switch replacement'. Here's an example

but I don't like the wheels but that can be sorted.
I've got a set of Cayman S wheels (standard 5 spoke), currently with winter tyres, that I'd be willing to move on. PM me if you get to the point of being interested.

Wherever you end up check whether you can further reduce the cost by using Topcashback or Quidco.

So i finally used a kit that i've had for a few year on the front lamps to get rid of that nasty yellowing.
Looked all good for a few weeks

Some kinda reaction with the treatment chemical? It was a very old kit (c.3 years maybe) but i dont recall seeing a best before or similar on it

Strange request, could someone do me a favour and measure the front number plate plinth for me please?
Many thanks!
Approx 48 x 9cm; bit hard to measure accurately with a plate over it!
