have also noticed that on mine the slats in the front bumper and the lower arm on the mirrors are the same colour as the side vents. I would imagine it was probably another thing that was done on the order. Looks pretty good I think.

It's the gift that keeps on giving! Watching with interest (and envy) to see what your next discovery will be.

My 2 rear springs have broken and I am looking to replace them. does anyone know what the colours codes are for a 2.7 Boxter? Mine are just black to look at. Are certain colour codes for certain models?

Should be able to check on the PET diagram but need to know year and whether manual or Tip and PASM or not.

Hi, looking to buy a boxster - on waiting lists. Dealers are keen on HP and I am open to it but does anyone have experience of paying additional payments to clear faster?  I want to ensure these will reduce interest charges and struggling to find anything online.

also want to make sure no penalty for early repayment.

    thanks in advance

As Stuart says, ask the OPC for a copy of the terms and conditions. I did that when I recently bought my Audi - took HP in order to get free services and a discount then just 'withdrew' and  paid it off with no penalty before first monthly payment was due. Much cheaper finance available elsewhere, which can also be paid off without penalty.

  4. Not sure why the alarm issue yet can't open the frunk. Sounds like you need to access the frunk release cable which likely means jacking the car up, removing the front driver's side wheel and finding the cable which should be somewhere in the wheel well. Alternatively, if a previous owner has rerouted it you might find it behind the flap hiding the hole for the tow hook (assuming a 986nis similar to a 987).

Quick question for the DIYers amongst us-where do you get your oil filters, and what brand?

     Cheers,Andrew

Bought Mahle from ECP last year -  cheapest I could find and local collection.

This means my beautiful 981S, with full OPC service history, 34,000 miles, Porsche warranty until  March 2025 and pretty much every extra will be for sale when I return to the UK in April

Just need to win a certain radio competition before then and it won't have far to go Rob! Look forward to seeing the new one too - much talk of it today during our PCGB outing.

Thanks for your reply's. Has anyone got a cruise control for sale?

Rare as hen's teeth.....at least for a decent price. You may get one from a breaker such as Douglas Valley or 9apart online/eBay but won't be cheap. Alternatively do an extensive online search using the part no in various forms e.g. 987xxx etc,  987-xxx- etc, 987.xxx. etc  or 987 xxx etc. I got one from a Dutch breaker 4 or 5 years ago at a decent price and I think more recently someone got one from the USA. Good luck.

think I will get a £20 Halfords voucher from confused.com as well, so overall I reckon I've done OK

If you'd gone through Quidco you'd have got £37.40 cashback too (probably in addition to the Halfords voucher). I did one of my current insurances through Money Supermarket via Topcashback and got £150 of discounts in addition to the cashback. I have another insurance through the Meerkats also with cashback. In each case the overall cost was the cheapest I could find.

  9. Had an e mail from PCGB this pm confirming 987's and 997's are now 'Classic'; no mention of gen 1 or 2. Also invited to a zoom presentation of the benefits and a series of breakfast meets at OPC's around the country - will probably head over to the one in Bournemouth in May.

I fitted a Topgear non switchable to my Cayman S-I love it-very loud at 5000 plus rpm, exactly what I wanted,i don’t find it too loud at all when driving sedately, but opinions are subjective of course.

took half an hour or so to fit after the old system was removed.very happy with it.

That's interesting. I think I was something of a pioneer in having one fitted to my 987., non S. As you say, it was awesome at high revs but it was a disaster around 45-50 mph- drone was like someone sitting behind me banging a big bass drum. It was so intolerable I had to take the car to Topgear themselves (local to me) for it to be modified, which took them 6 hours!  Some of the high rev sound was lost but, mercifully, so was the drone. I would advise anyone looking at fitting a non-switched TG (or Designtek which I believe are same) to a 2.7 to avoid at all costs! But, given your experience, maybe it's OK on a 3.2/3.4.

    Hi,

I have a Boxster 987 (2005) and find that the convertible roof gets stuck on the rear window when putting the roof down. The roof will collapse to a certain point then start to groan, if I force it then it will ‘pop’ and go down (sounds unhealthy). What I have found is that if I collapse it and watch, then it will get to a certain point where the sound changes, I will push the button to bring the roof forward (opposite of collapse), the rear window will drop down out of its position and the roof will go down fine. I originally took this back to the garage where I bought it and they greased everything etc so I think it’s just that the rear window doesn’t pop out of its hole unless I do this little manoeuvre.

Any suggestions on how to fix this permanently?

    Thanks in advance!

Really strange; never come across this sort of issue so guessing at possible issues. Assuming that the plastic ball joint caps are both intact have to checked that the rods/arms are not bent? Not sure what you mean by window not popping out of its 'hole'. Assuming you mean it's not folding down the only thing I can think to check is whether the rear edge of the hood, below the window is correctly located in the two clips on the body, though I don't  really think it would affect closing even if it's not. Hopefully others may have some ideas to contribute.

    Hi guys, quick question,

took the Porsche for a spirited drive yesterday, on popping the car into the garage and switching the engine off, there were a couple weird noises as if a hose had split and like water was leaking out…. Couldn’t pin point it.

Around 4 hours later, I noticed around a cup full of water on the garage floor, and a drip coming from the under tray engine cover plate, or whatever it’s called, about in line with the front wheels, obviously could have started anywhere….

had a look this morning, nothing there, no leaks. I’d had the heater on full quite a bit during the drive on hot and strong fan blowing to keep warm with the top down….

it was definitely water, no smell to it or viscosity to the touch,

    any ideas guys??
Gen II, on a 10 plate

    thanks

Have you checked the coolant cap on the expansion tank? Old ones are prone to leak - make sure yours is marked with a part number ending 04 not 01. It usually results in a leak round the rear offside and condensation on inside of boot lid.

  13. I love it. It appears to be blue toned red so the roof and interior work, af least in the pics. The one thing I'm not so keen on is the red interior trim. Pity I don't have 26k going spare given it's only an hour from me.
