For what it's worth, I prefer the car in the second photo; looks a warmer colour. BUT, that may be purely a factor of the photography and it really has to be your choice.

Ouch; the results look really nasty! Shame abiout the car but at least you came through it.

Afternoon all.
Looking at the front anti roll bar bushes is confusing me as there are many different sizes for the 987 boxster .
Mine is a 2006 2.7 manual with normal; (non sports / PASM) suspension
From what I can gather i need the 19.9mm variety but wondered if anyone can shine a light on this?
Many thanks
Easiest way to be sure is to phone nearest OPC and buy from them. That's what I did and no more expensive than elsewhere, especially with 10%PCGB discount. And they usually post out for free.

I expect @Richard Hamiltonwill have some ideas.

Recently bought a 2006 Boxster 987 and whilst it's tidy there's a few bits I'm starting to sort out. I've noticed the front fog lights don't work (rear are fine), no error thrown on dash, and same for the frunk courtesy light. I've done some reading around and it sounds like the Front End Control Module which controls both of these might have gone / be going bad. Looks like I can pick up a replacement for about £60 on ebay, apparently it needs coding though. My questions are: has anyone got any experience of using a diagnostic tool to do this, I was going to get a iCarSoft one anyway but I can't seem to find much info on which tools can / can't do this. Alternatively, am I likely to find a porsche specialist who can sort this or am I going to have to pucker up and go to main dealer?
Any thoughts / tips welcome.
Cheers
Mark
Probably a good idea to post your location. There may be someone close to you who has a diagnostic tool and would be willing to check it for you. If you do have to buy a new module then a good Porsche indy shoukd be abke to code it for you. Again, your location will help with recommendations.

I think BBB has probably hit on the cause above. It does look like the surface has been distorted and there may be some resulting leather shrinkage. You could try the softener as per discussion on previous thread but I'm not confident it will help much. As suggested by 1/2cwt getting the right leather to replace it is likely to prove difficult. The perforation pattern is a major obstacle, the difference in appearance between 20 year old and new leather, the degree of surface coating but even the colour could be problematic - there are loads of shades of Black, Blue toned, Red toned etc etc. It's got to be worth a go treating it yourself first but then you probably need a trimmer to have a close look and see whether they can help.

I've got a set of those which I bought from another BoXa member. Use them in summer and keep my crappy old OEM bolts for winter

JMG Porsche?
You may be thinking of Bournemouth. They're Wimborne way, about 2.25 hours from Eastbourne.

I ( and many others) have had similar issues on front. Used a reciprocating saw (£40 ish) from Screwfix and some decent blades and cut down through the bushes, being careful not to damage anything else. Just go carefully and take your time. I think @½cwt had similar issue on rear so could confirm.

Love the side vents.

Anyone care to post some links to some of those recent threads? Please don't make me use the search function. Please .....
Shell V Power petrol

Yep, there was a very recent thread! Fwiw I tend to use higher Octane; either Shell V Power if i'm in the vicinity of a Shell garage or Tesco Momentum. But I only do around 5k a year; might be different if i was topping up every week.

IIRC you gave yours a good clean and a treated with polytrol to improve appearance??? I did the same on my 986 and it was a worthwhile I thought.
Yes, i'd forgotten that; must redo it.

Did the 987 have black calipers as standard? I thought they were the dark anodised grey same as the 986, but I may be wrong.
No, you're correct Bob. That's why i haven't painted mine- impossible to replicate the look and finish.

987s should have pad shims on the base model as well. I ditched mine but in theory they should be there
I have them on mine.

Targa 4s heritage for me if I wasn’t a 986 pov.
PC Bournemouth had a Cherry metallic one in the showroom a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely gorgeous! Sadly it was already sold so I couldn't take it home with the bolt i was collecting.

I have one which I use on my Halfords low entry jack. Works well. My Sealey rocket jack has a large pad which easily covers the jack point so not needed for that.

The front to back pipes are done so just like my for the front ones now. I know some of you have done them so any tips on where to get a good deal on them?
I did a bit of research a couple of months back and from what others said OPC was cheapest (especially after 10% PCGB discount). If you look on Design911 I think you'll find the full set with part no's.

Fitted the Carnewal back-box as purchased from @MartynH a few weeks ago and took it for a quick run over the Marlborough downs. Raucous and smile-inducing
Look forward to hearing it Al. Are you coming on Sunday?

I would imagine so, can’t see any company volunteering to reduce their revenue. Reduced renewals will be offset by less attractive offers for those who shop around.

Precisely.

Likewise, i would try to push your wire up from underneath to see if you meet the same obstruction and, if so, can maybe dislodge it.
981's being recalled in the USA. Has anyone heard of a similar thing in the UK yet?
