£500 is good - I pay over £600 and I'm fast approaching 45. Mine is through Porsche Club GB. Cheapest quote I got was from Admiral. I would recommend a company that specialises in performance cars, though.

37 year old bloke + wifey, 4 years protected NCD, not garaged, unlimited miles, no convictions £700, wifey had an accident 3 years ago which doesn't help. Does vary depending on what you want with it (eg couresy car, legal cover, breakdown cover) and of course your excess!

Swift, via t'internet. Under £350 IIRC.

I'm also with swiftcover - £460 fully comp, business use, unlimited mileage, I'm 38 (Still have 6 points on my license even though it was over 4 years ago), tracker fitted, parked off road,

My wife insures through them also so this might have lowered it

I used to work in a brokers many years ago, before insurance quotes were computerised. They had a book of cars with insurance groups , another table for age and another for location. Each factor gave a certain number of points , then you added on for convictions etc, before looking up a premium against the total points score , and applying any NCB. I guess the algorithm is still the same in the computer system, location , age and insurance group are the main factors.

Shop around, you can often get a broker to lower the premium if you get a competitive quote. I ended up with the RAC , they were the cheapest ( about 600) and were prepared to cover the fixed items in the car such as the audio equipment. I also got upgraded membership for my RAC breakdown and they allow for part installments. The "supercar" insurers such as AON and footman james etc , gave me a load of tosh about owning similar performance cars (I've has this one for nearly 3 years now!) and silly quotes of over £1000. Porsche were the next best offer via norwich union , the main attraction being they cover you for Porsche organised track days.

It's not just Porsche organized track days they cover you for.

Really? I'm currently with NU direct (renewal due in 7 days) but can't find anywhere on the policy docs re trackday cover- how did you find out about this? and do you know details like exclusions/ excesses etc?

It would really help me make a decision about whether to go on on sunday (provided there are still spaces) !

When I phoned Porsche Insurance I simply asked them about the track day insurance because other people on here had mentioned it. They said something quite bizarre along the lines of "it's not part of the policy it's a perk of the policy" - I can't claim to understand the difference but the way it works is you tell them when and where you're going and they will issue a cover note that covers you for that one event on that specific day. You can do 2 per year with PI / NU. The excess is 10% of the value of the car (£3k min I think) - it only covers the main policy holder and it only covers your car irrespective of fault.

I'd suggest you give your insurer a call and ask them (I'm sure someone on here has said that they are with NU direct and get track day cover) - just make sure you say track day quite clearly so it doesn't get confusded with tractor :D

You only need to cover your car, anyway. Others cannot claim off you - regardless of fault on a track day. It's part of the indemnity you sign to go on the track and the cover is therefore reflecting it....
