r1flyguy
Hi allTime the dreaded 'sit on your backside and waste hours of your life looking for insurance' time againLast couple of years I have been insured with CCI and had to pay a difference of around £200 6 months into my policy to change from the 986 to the 997tt .Now by my reckoning, an extra £200 for 6months equates to £400 over 12 months, so add that to my original quote of around £450 for the 986 equates to approx £850 give or take £50. Now I know that's no doubt not the way it actually works but in my mind that's how it should, so I was expecting a renewal around the same price or there abouts.....CCI's latest correspondence about my renewal has quoted in excess of £1200 WTFSo looks like I will yet again be changing companies, given the fact I have not had the chance to make use of there 5 track day days cover at all and my annual mileage has been well below that I had on the policy Was hoping I didn't have to waste my time searching and answering all the same god damn questions all the god damn time.Insurance hunting is so tedious Anyone who's had a good renewal policy recently can you post with a contactCheersr1
Patt
When I did mine the other month it was between Bridle and A-Plan, the rest were thousands more !Bridle were slightly cheaper but I had already gone to A-plan as I needed to use the car and only gave them 10 mins notice. spyderman8
Anyone who's had a good renewal policy recently can you post with a contactManning - don't think mine went up more than £20. I get a discount (apparently) for being a member of PCGB and from having attended extra driving tuition (that's Car Limits - not my "speed awareness" course!).Chris. Skidd
I'd speak with CCI. Every time I get a cr*p renewal quote in the post from my insurer (Elephant), they back down significantly when I speak with them on the phone.I'm moving from a C rated postcode, to an A rated postcode this weekend, so the next price better had be an improvement!! Patt
Yep always pays to talk to them , rather than jsut use tinterweb.Although I gave up waiting for Sky to ever return my call/quote me from previous forums...I'd rather walk than waste my time trying to get them to quote. NickFrog
I always use Confused and run the same (saved) search every time. It takes a few seconds as all the data is in there and then a couple of minutes to buy, if need be.Having said that, the renewal on the Nissan I just got was lower than last year by a few quid, even though it was very competitive at the time (and would still be as I found out as I still ran the search in case the market as a whole had gone down, which it hasn't). Very bizarre that they give away profit for no apparent reason.
AEROBILL
Saga, were the cheapest for me last year, renewal was the same price this year (checked and they were still the cheapest I could get). Did not charge me any extra when i had my performance exhaust fitted either.Downside- You have to be over 50!
littojikko
try all the comparison sites, confused, go compare etcour insurance on a 996tt is about £550 with admiral fully comp
r1flyguy
Well you can cross out many of the companies by using search sites such as go compare. I used them all the time I had my two Boxsters but couldn't get a decent quite for the 911. You mind find the same but at least you won't have to go through them one at a time. I'm with CCI at the moment, surprised by that quote.I was very surprised by CCI's renewa quote toWhen I did mine the other month it was between Bridle and A-Plan, the rest were thousands more !Bridle were slightly cheaper but I had already gone to A-plan as I needed to use the car and only gave them 10 mins notice.Cheers, I'll give them a tryYou get discounts from quite a few insurance companies if you are a member of PCGB, including CCI. At £60 a year it's worth it just for the discounts.Hmmmm, will have to look into this, maybe worth it for the Cert. of authenticity tooAnyone who's had a good renewal policy recently can you post with a contactManning - don't think mine went up more than £20. I get a discount (apparently) for being a member of PCGB and from having attended extra driving tuition (that's Car Limits - not my "speed awareness" course!).Chris.Ha ha, I have added the training from my previous occupation too.Feel free to give us a try:http://www.skyinsurance.co.uk/car-club-insurance.htmlWill do, cheers, is it worth a phonecall or better via the Internet??I'd speak with CCI. Every time I get a cr*p renewal quote in the post from my insurer (Elephant), they back down significantly when I speak with them on the phone.I'll get a few quotes first and then give them a call I think.Saga, were the cheapest for me last year, renewal was the same price this year (checked and they were still the cheapest I could get). Did not charge me any extra when i had my performance exhaust fitted either.Downside- You have to be over 50!Damn have to wait a few years yet try all the comparison sites, confused, go compare etcour insurance on a 996tt is about £550 with admiral fully compThat's a good price, I'd be chuffed to get anywhere near that. Glyn
Comparison sites are just so much easier to get a quote than being on the phone to one company for 40 minutes, You only enter your details once and each year you can update your details before you click submit to get a quote.Directline dont use comparison sites to offer insurance - and they state that as though its a benefit - however the lying gits use their sister company "Privilege" on the comparison sites - but be aware that both companies insist on a tracker or they wont cover for theft with Porsches, so you need to add the cost of the tracker to the insurrance quote to compare like for like.Get a new quote every year as none of them reward loyalty - they all have a 12 month tempting premium in order to get ready for the rip of renewal for the next year, keep changing, after all until you claim you dont know how good any of them are
Jonnyspin
quidco also have their own comparson engine - might be worth a try.and, I have noticed that sometimes, it's worth waiting for a phonecall that you enevitably get straight after doing a comparison - and then negociating with them... it can be even cheaper, presumably because then you don't actualy buy through the aggregator? r1flyguy
Spoke to CCI as the renewal is over £400 from curent quotes,Female telesales was a right arrogant biatch!! and no help at all, told her she has lost the company some business and i'm going elsewhere!!!Even emailed the manager there to inform them of the lost business!!!In this day & age, with the Economy what it is, you would think treatment of 'possible' customers would be better in the hope to retain business and 'money'
r1flyguy
OK, so Insurance finally sorted.Initially A-Plan were going to get the business as Steve was very helpful and provided a competitive quote with a good overall package,Bridle called me out the blue, having had a quote from them this time last year, and was able to provide me with a policy, £470 lower than CCI's renewal quote. The policy package was what I was after and the peace of mind that should I be unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident I am allowed to use Porsche recomended repairers, which will keep the warranty intact too.Expected Renewal from CCI £800 'ishRenewal Quote £1209New policy with Bridel = £739 I would recommend either Bridle or A-Plan for their prices and overall package. Carlie Howden
Thanks for giving us a go, hopfully I'll get your Policy next year, the industry would be boring without competition! obviously I wish you had have taken our policy, but I'm pleased you have taken out a good policy with Bridle, makes all the differance if you do have a claim.
