Could also be knackered bushes causing (more than usual) geo changes under load? I think mine has a bit of this...

stiff/worn coffin arms make for a horrible ride - I had all four of mine replaced vast improvement.

Thanks for all your feedback dudes.  First things first new tyres ordered. Goodyear do a £65 for 18" or £80 for 19" pre Xmas cashback at Merit tyres so wish me luck. For what its worth they do a free alignment check so I'll see what they find, I'll then go to a specialist:

265/35R18 97Y GOODYR F1 ASY3 XL £151.40 2 £302.80
225/40R18 92Y GOODYR F1 ASY3 XL £98.56 2 £197.12
Free Wheel Alignment CHECK – Four Wheels £0.00 1 £0.00
    Order Total:

£499.92

Anybody else have an opinion on this because in mine there is a very high liklehood that the dampers are well shot on a Porrsche with 135K unless it was all driving Miss Daisy stuff.

Having recently replaced my rear dampers, I would say save your money if you are happy with the way the car drives.

One of my shocks was quite obviously well past its best, yet I have noticed little or no difference in the way my car rides or handles with the new ones fitted.

Bear in mind though that my car is lowered which may or may not make a difference, or perhaps the finer points of the Boxsters handling are just wasted on me :)

Bear in mind that you will have to run in your tyres for a couple of hundred miles before you get full grip out of them, so don’t make any early judgements.  I had new rears (PZERO) a few months ago and they were very squirrely until they had a few hundred miles under them (perhaps I should have run them in before going on a  weekend Strines run:whistle:)

Au contraire.

A Strines run is surely the perfect way to scrub new boots! B)

Cheers, Baggers.

In fairness there was a few suspension parts gone on mine so I cannot put my hand on my heart and say the dampers were the main culprit.

All new tyres are like that, nothing a few "warm-ups" can't cure. :thumbsup_still:

Thanks for the advice, yeh on motorbike tyres it’s called ‘scrubbing in’ first 100 miles take it easy gradually leaning the bike further and further over on bends  till you loose the ‘chicken strips’ Peps motorbike skills are judged on the width of those lol

I’ve had a very bad experience with No5, don’t touch with a barge pole.

Fair enough - direct experience is most important - know a fair few who've used them and been happy otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned them.

To be honest I would never trash a company in that way but I had such a bad experience, part of it was their attitude and total deniability.

For every bad experience there will be 10 good.

No, I had a load of suspension work done, cost a bit but transformed the car

Into anything in particular or just generally?

Into someting thats nicer to drive :) Its lovely on perfectly smooth roads, but i'll be using it as a daily soon so it needs sorting. Thought the shocks would help, but didn't.

I've got it booked in for a geo in a couple of weeks which I hope will help. Its strange as it used to ride very nice considering its lowered, but has gradually got worse over the last 12 months or so. Appologies to @Clivescoobydo for going off topic !

Okay, good luck with that I hope the geo sorts it out.

No problem Paul. Just to update got four new Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 3's fitted, all manufactured in 2017. Look great, give great rim protection, make the steering lighter and are much quieter. Also got the alignment checked and my reading of the data is the front wheels are toe in a little as is the rear right hand.  I didn't bother getting this corrected at the time as the existing tyres showed no signs of uneven wear other than the rear centres due I assume to over inflation. Am I reading this right or is any amount of toe in worth correcting?Visually checked the suspension and there appears no signs of weeping or split bushes.  Did notice a slight nick in the power steering coupling which apparently is a common Boxster 911 problem. Will put a temporary jubilee clip on this

A jubilee clip over the PAS line by offside front wheel is common. Done on both my Boxsters, current one been going like that for 4 years. Whether or not to adjust the geo is personal preference but would depend on the exact figures.

The geo figures are in the first pic above, they don't seem to far out to me.

I can barely see the detail on a phone but your rear toe is not only out of spec but you have 5 minutes on one side but almost 15 on the other. I suspect if you get this evened up and at 5 minutes or less you will feel much less crabbing as you described.
