Frankp2112
HI, Can any one suggest a way I can see if the sub woofer in the car is working. I have the BOSE set up with the sun woofer on the back shelf. I don't seem to be able to hear anything from it at the moment. Thanks Frank
Tubzilla
Hi press the sound button on your PCM and you can select front and back fader, set it to full sound to the rear and hopefully you should hear something. I have mine set with a bit more bias to the rear and heavy bass. love it!
Liberty
I think that making sure the surround in the menu is on also can make a difference.

Thanks Frank Hi frank, you won’t get any sound out of a sub, you will get movement of air that produces the thud (bass) there is a port the air is pushed out of, put your hand close to that and you should feel the air blowing out ?? map
At the risk of being patronising - but based on personal experience - it's worth checking that the Bose unit is actually connected to the car. If you release the clamps on the top and lift it up you should be able to find and follow the signal lead - from memory it's on the UK driver's side behind the roll bar area. Bike Loon
Rhere are also 2 other speakers in the sub unit (put the seats forward and you will see) with any decent music you can easily tell if its working ... as said, check the connectors
Nickyg63
mine is overly boomy, its obvious that its on. ive even turned it down to the lowest setting! Im sure somethings wrong
Boxstercol
This has been a long standing complaint I've had with mine (admittedly a 987), but I'm not sure if mine works properly, in so much that gery little bass is produced by it. If you set the fader to the rear it sounds like a cheap radio. I even had the Bose speaker replaced under warranty by the OPC & it sounds the same. The bass is produced by the door speakers in my car.
Eddy555
The door speakers are mounted in pretty large plastic "cabinets" which go along most of the bottom of the door so perform pretty well for their size.
alank
Mine didn't work, as said before, it wasn't connected!!
Ilkley986
When I bought my Boxster the bass speaker had been disconnected. If you partially lower the roof you can find the cable connector below the fabric cover on the right hand side of the car.
Anker BS
Its very easy to miss plugging the speaker back in after servicing, and its also easy to not plug it in far enough. If they had put the connector on a bit of a pigtail it would be easier.
Skidd
I'm going to check mine - never heard much from it in 10 years.

Mine seems awful!
Patt
Sometimes the canbus loses the sub. There are plenty of posts on how to reset this.
Dazzevans
Sorry to resurrect this thread, but does anyone else find their bass so bad they get a rattle from the shelf?
