steveyvuk
I had my 6 year done in Aug 18, I was quoted: Service £495.00 Belt £240.00 Brake Fluid: £95 But then had to have work done that the previous owner had 'opted' not to have done, basically the spark plugs which pushed it up to £1260! An eye watering some of money considering what you get, but this is how they pay for posh showrooms! ouch 😞
Greenman
Seems expensive for the Belt portion! @CMA did you get your 6 yearly done a couple of weeks ago? Were you charged as expected or did anything else pop up?

I took it in, signed the paperwork that listed the price as I expected, was just following him outside so he could look at my roof issue and I thought he hasnt asked for my driving licence...so I asked there is a loan car booked isn't there? Nope was his reply. Turns out there had been a bit of a miscommunication so I didn't leave my car and booked back in next week with a loan car this time. So expecting the price to be the same will report back when it's done.

My major in March I had to insist they changed the Air Filters as despite signing off that as part of the work they hadn’t changed them, so I had to wait an extra 45 mins while they did them. I asked for my plugs back when I paid to have them changed on my old one (I wanted exact part no and to see what condition they were in) They were happy to provide, even wrote which cyl them came from on them. Think I'll ask for my air filters & pollen filter back too just to make sure they change them this time based on that!
zagamuffin
Have to say lads it’s very worrying to see people having to ask for used service parts back from a Porsche service center to prove they did you work you’ve paid an arm and a leg for ?? Think your using the wrong people if that’s even mentioned

But obviously when I didn’t see the filters it prompted my query. I had an issue as I was asking for a filter change at 4 years rather than the prescribed 6 years, obviously the technician just got on with working through the standard set of Major (4year) tasks and the service advisor didn’t pick up on the omission. Patt
I've had about £8k of warranty work done by Reading, yet Revolution do all my services. they have to prove they used genuine Porsche parts and a vat number, but for me it's worth the 500+ mile round trip. Just had a minor plus PDK plus brake fluid and air filters done I prefer the honesty and customer service from the team up there.

Patt - great that you are making it work and you are getting what "you paid for" - but just one question regarding proof - it's not "them" that has to prove genuine parts etc. it's "you"- what have you had to do / show / produce for Reading OPC to get your warranty sorted - have they ever queried or asked for proof no anything? Not trying to be clever - just genuinely trying to understand how it works.
718as
Why not do the engine/cabin filters yourself? Buy OEM and install in about 1hr.
Patt
Paul, You have a valid point there. At no point have they even asked to see my service book or asked me any such questions. I've had brake pedal bushes, dynamic headlight and both engine mounts replaced in three separate visits. I'm sure there is more, I just can't recall it now. A class example for my rational is I bought the car from an OPC and a lot of the work they carried out for the due service on the car before I took ownership was not listed or stamped in my book. When I took it to Revolution for it's major service some 8 months later, they told me the belt and air filters didn't require replacing. BONUS as saved me some beer tokens ! Obviously something like an engine issue might prompt more queries on servicing etc. After all, it’s only issues that are caused by improper maintenance that are not covered by the warranty. I’m not sure I’d opt to take my car to a garage that I wasn’t sure was actually carrying out the work. And how do you know any garage is actually doing the work? lol I normally ask for parts back so I can personally look at condition/wear/fault etc. I had a wheel bearing done on the Audi, asked for the old one back as I wanted to inspect it myself and see what had failed/worn, same for an old damper on the same car. I would also ask for oil back if I wanted to send some away for analysis if it was an engine that may have history or issues. They're my parts to do with as I wish, just most people don't have the same inquisitive interest in the old/faulty parts as I do. No garage has ever had an issue with my requests, sometime the odd raised eyebrow. Porsche Sheffield said to me its very common request to have old parts back when I asked for my plugs back. When I took it to Revolution for it's major service some 8 months later, they told me the belt and air filters didn't require replacing. BONUS as saved me some beer tokens ! There's a gap in the process for sure - mate of mine ( he'll be along in a minute probably ) - bought a 987 from OPC - and lucked into a major service (book stamped), and also new disks/pads (cant remember which end) , he also got the "12 year things" - in his case manual gearbox oil change plus I think they possibly did a pair of tyres, sorted the stonechips etc. - yet the book just says "service" - bit of follow up with them and got the details - but not the precious pieces of paper for the history folder. I got the other end of the this - non OPC, car had FPSH, but had been a little late on one of them (time vs miles) - they (specialist) did a minor service and a brake fluid change - I chased down the service records from servicing OPC _ didn't tell me much except that it had front discs/pads changed which I could already see. I did a catchup with local OPC - PDK clutch fluid, air filter, plugs, belt - turns out that air filter was original (8 years), plugs had been changed at some stage ( no records - but non porsche branded), belt was brand new (think supplying dealer did it - but just ticked "checked in the book" but tensioner was seized, and they pointed out that at some stage it had a non porsche battery which I knew (exide - and the tech said "good call") ...... so, incomplete history (but key items done) but all stamped up as far as the "book" goes - wonder how that would stand up for warranty ( if I decide to keep it I may do the 111 pint ( deliberate - that's how much it costs in my head) check) and see what it would take to get it covered. I am in the habit ( after years of dealing with Ford, a shady Audi dealer and Vauxhall dealers) of getting them to give all removed parts back unless they are a warranty or recall item - no issue to date with OPC (or indy that I have also used) - but amazed at how sometimes the parts and labour bill drops when I remind the I asked for the "old wiper blades". I even asked the BMW dealer for the "Emery tape" that was included in my service cost at a charge of £4.
