Following my increased WBAC offer I put my car on Wizzle and also contacted a few Porsche and independent dealers. Most dealers could not beat or even match the WBAC offer but I did manage to get an extra £500 from Wizzle so have agreed to let the Boxster T go. First car that I have made a decent profit on.

Out of interest I compared mine on Wizzle and WBAC, the difference was nearly £5k from WBAC

You just put into Wizzle the price you want and then let dealers bid. Don’t go with the Wizzle advice. I put into Wizzle a figure approx £1700 more than WBAC to act as a starting point.

Yeah, Wizzle prices are a bit low ball.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I took the 911 to my local WBAC branch yesterday as it was just .6 of a mile away 🤪

3 weeks ago initially the online offer was just under £85k, 4 days ago it jumped to £87325 so I thought It was close to what’s online thereabouts so I would see what they say.

On arrival ‘Ashley Banjo’ (seriously he was his double) was very pleasant welcoming and agreed the car was spotless with complete history and worth the quote.

when he put it through the iPad it dropped to £85k and he couldn’t understand it. It wasn’t until he spoke to head office and went through the V5 that it was the ‘number of previous owners’ that caused the £2k drop and not the 12 Miles difference on the odometer 🤣 as initially thought!

I politely declined the offer as I wasn’t wholly committed to selling the car TBH had it been the £87k I may have walked home 😁

Have you tried Porsche OPC's, as I sold my 911 to one two weeks ago as they offered £5k more than WBAC. It sort of turned into a bidding war on the car as they are desperate for stock.

They even came and collected it off the drive after viewing it once and then put it on their forecourt for the same price I bought it off them over 2 years and 15,000 miles later.

To be honest it was a very painless transaction as I really didnt fancy selling a car of its value to a stranger, after a test drive and haggle on pricing etc etc.

wowsers - but the trade keep telling us that the number of owners doesn't matter when we are buying! :)

Tried my local OPC who know the car their offer was £4K lower than WBAC

Indeed, I think my annoyance was all the initial owners were in the cars first 2 years, I’ve had the car approaching 5 years now. :)

I got bids from half a dozen OPC's and a few specialists, then gave my local OPC the chance to match the highest one, which they did. (Grudgingly.)

It seems the 991.1 Turbo S is just not that special 🤣

I think the tide is beginning to turn. From the highest quote a mth ago WBAC quote has now gone 1k lower. Still considerably  more than I paid last July but my experience is the tide is turning 👍 All pretty irrelevant  anyway

WBAC are now at £33350…….

My T was picked up on Thursday and is now up for sale with Porsche Portsmouth at a very optimistic price. It’s a beautiful well cared for car but not sure it is worth £12k more than I paid for it last October . Link here Porsche Finder

Can't comment on the price but that looks spiffing :)

This is getting silly now, I've had yet another "Hooray! Your PORSCHE CAYMAN has increased in price" email, this time it's gone up to £28,715

Another email from WBAC just landed, and the valuation has gone up to £29,000 now

They probably looked at your Boxster expenditure and reckoned you've spent £28K on the Cayman. 😂

I’d email a few of them and see what happens, try silverstone and the ones down south like Portsmouth and maybe east London

A different car but we’ve just traded in our Audi Q2 for a Skoda karoq and the dealer wanted the Q2 for his own forecourt so matched the WBAC price and wouldn’t let us leave until we said yes 😄

I think the Wolves and Solihull dealers for Porsche aren’t great when it comes to buying and selling cars, great service team.

Very interesting this, I've been very tempted to get back into a Box since the spring, but the prices have put me off. I've been keeping a good eye on the market, using dealer stock and comparing it to the WBAC valuation. Caymans seem to have plateaued now and have settled at a 10-12% increase in last summer's prices. Boxster's however seem to have had an increased seasonal peak up about 15% at the start of August (on last August's prices) and have now dropped down to about 5% higher than this time last year. Back to being tempted again.
