Conserve it I say. There's loads of high mileage ones and very few with tiny mileage like this.

but what's the point? conserve it for what?if you stay with that thought it will never get driven and will never be a museum piece as there are already good ones in them.

Do wonder how much it will cost once you started using it - no oil changes in 18 years is not going to end well - not serviced or maintained properly despite the low mileage - thats going to have multiple issues and cost someone a lot of additional money

This has been one of my lottery win goals - buy cars like this and watch the horror on previous owners faces as i dare to drive them on proper roads :)

I think its easier to say drive it and use it like it was built for when its someone elses car.

Theres probably quite a few people on here that think I will use my other car instead of putting miles on my Boxster so it doesnt devalue.

You pay your money, you take your choice.

we are in strange times where we can use our cars and the values still go up!

never to be seen again - surely that bubble has got to burst soon - WBAC keep sending me improved offers - world is going nuts

I bought mine to use it, although I get the point of view of others who'd rather not.

For lots of reasons we're in a driving sweet spot right now and I intend to enjoy it whilst that window is still open.

Who knows what silliness lies ahead e.g. big hikes in vehicle/petrol duty etc

As it is an auction it needs at least two eijits to bid it up.

But I'm willing to bet there are more than two out there.

Still a nice car, the missing service history would play second fiddle to the condition IMHO.

Personally I would love the dilemma of buying cars not to drive

We love speculate. The collector is just that, a collector. I dont have that mind set, few do, I have delt with them in the area of books though. I've known of collectors who,  on obtaining a  near mint rare edition, long out of print, would barely open the thing let alone ever read it. A Boxster is quite a pivotal car historically, it saved Porsche from going bust, a minter may be a must for the yet unborn collector. There will always be punters though.

22k plus the 6% comm

The service history or lack of it, is the issue.

I think it would be around £25k with a solid history.

Haha it has certainly had a clean and it’s first look around 👍

you probably have more history than the other one though :)

would have great fun cleaning that up

Good to see it’s caused a bit of debate!

I’d be pretty confident that this will get the collectors / speculators excited given how mad the pricing of cars is going at the moment

Collecting Cars seems to have done pretty well at attracting an audience paying top whack & I fully expect it will be bid on as an investment rather than one of us as an enthusiast

Around 20k is my estimate but I wouldn’t be shocked if it was nearer 30k!

IMHO, it’s nothing special! It’s a mass produced 986 that someone didn’t bother to use.

it’s not a limited edition, it’s not even a facelift version!

If some tw*t wants to bid this up to a ridiculous amount  more than its realistically worth then they need their head examining.

My money would be waiting for a low mileage limited edition 981 in the future, I believe they are the peak of what was a truly evolved flat 6 powered Boxster other than the recent limited runs of the GT4, etc,

We had/have a member on here with a real low mileage red mint 986 and he could get a sniff when he tried to sell it.

I think people get into a frenzy when you take 100+ photos of a clean car and forums ‘big’ it up, they are basically talking themselves into something that really shouldn’t be ‘all that’

Course you are right,  but whether it's mass produced or not doesn't seem to have much influence on the values of older cars. Mk1 Ford Escort, 60s minis etc. Neither particularly good or desirable in my book but they can fetch mega money for what they are.

If that's how someone wants to spend their hard earned, thats fine by me, not sure that would necessarily make them a tw*t really.

I reckon £13k sale price + fees tops.

The 17 year service gap will prevent anything higher… we’ll see!

Although the world has gone mad and cars seem to be advertised and changing hands for daft money.

Funny site too - I had a positive experience buying a number plate.

But as for buying a car - posh words - nice photos - still get your pants pulled right down if you don’t inspect it…

Heard a tale the other day of Volvo buying back cars with known history for far more than their listed price, not because of rarity value but because a shortage of chips in China means there’s an 8 month or more wait for  new cars. I’d be happy to get £2,500 above list. Then again WBAC value old Boxster at less than 10% of that.

By the way Woodleigh have always been on the higher price scale in my opinion.

Fish with your Chips anyone?

Im not a fan of ultra low mileage cars myself. If the spend most of their lives sat doing nothing it doesnt do them any good at all.

Everything from suspension bushes, brake calipers to engine and transmission seals can suffer from sit around not being used.

They certainly do command a premium when they come up for sale though, despite the fact that they may need as much work to put them right as a high mileage car.

And you get nothing in the bank so why not start a collection.......plus there's an awful lot of peps out there with the odd billion burning a hole!

Woodleigh top notch though on customer service and warranty , fitted me a replacement gearbox as second gear was notchy, new gear link cables and two gearbox fluid changes, new rear brakes and various bits and bobs , I'd certainly recommend them , must have cost £4k in warranty

Ok, agree maybe a little harsh but seriously, there are better ways of blowing your hard earned, trips to the far east and hookers sounds better than paying overs on a non significant Boxster 😂

If it was offered to me for 8-10k then i would seriously consider it anything more than that then id be putting my money into Mk1 Escorts 🤪

that sounds like a lot more fun than a car you can't drive :)
