Picked up my new (to me) car on Monday and fixed a few minor niggles today:

1. Polished the twin exhaust tips - the rest of the car was beautifully prepped, but this wasn't done for some reason

2. Cleaned the windscreen - hoping it was polish making the wipers drag, otherwise it'll be new blades

3. Repaired the lower CD storage tray in the glove-box as the front had come off

4. Removed and cleaned the sticky PCM knobs - good as new now

Grand just timping!

Picked up a set of 17" Alloys a couple of weeks ago with Pirelli Scottozero Winter tyres, finally got round to putting them on today. Just need to drop it in to MIcheldever Tyres for a Wheel Alignment check as the inside shoulders on the fronts were looking a bit more worn than the rest of the tyre.

My gen2s has a red interior and the steering wheel has a red rim. After 10 years it was shiny and a bit manky and no amount of scrubbing and leather treatment would sort it. I considered a retrim but found an alcantara wheel in Ebay in the Autumn for less than a retrim would cost, only problem it was the bare wheel with no front trim or gubbings. Today I removed the old wheel and after a fair amount of sweat and a bit of cursing managed to remove the trim, fitted it to the new wheel and then refitted that to the car. Around 2 hours with the wait for the airbag to discharge after disconnecting the battery. Have to say it looks much better and feels so much nicer that the old shiny thing. Now do i get the old one retrimmed or just stick it onto Ebay as is? The none PDK wheels seem rarely to crop up for sale.

btw if anybody is considering a similar move I can add a few pics to the thread.

Fitted my 997 GT3 master cylinder and bled the brakes on my 987.2 CAyman..

The braking is transformed. Pedal a LOT firmer with barely a couple of inches of travel. Far more confidence inspiring. Best £78 I have ever spent on a car mod. Why on earth they weren't like this as standard is a mystery.

Not sure if this is allowed, lol:

Just noticed that seller will not ship to the UK, which is odd. Brexit?

Replaced my window regulator that packed up just before Christmas.  Was going to pay to get it done but as the weather is getting worse and the window wants properly seated I tackled it today.
£150 for the mechanism.  Job done and the window is now in a better position as I spend a bit of time adjusting the for and aft position in the clamps.

They look impressive,  can you share a link for them?

Cheer Ady

Here you go chap -

https://safejacks.com/products/the-rennstand-by-safe-jack-single-unit

I had to import them direct from USA - not cheap but worth it (in my opinion).

If you are going to get a set, make sure you get two 'pucks' that will be specific to your car.

Also the nice bag is cool too - when the jacks are disassembled it helps keep everything neat (and not lost!).

If you've any questions on them just give me a shout.

Cheers,

@andygo, @Lennym1984 as you got this - I'm about to have my 987.1 callipers serviced so it would make sense to fit this at the same time.  Can you tell me if the two master cylinders look any different, as I'd be an idiot to buy this if my car already had one fitted?!  Thanks!

Is that non-UK restriction still there? I wonder if people are taking them back off now that the Brexit deal has been done, it might have been to protect themselves in case of no deal.

Unless you have fitted it, I doubt you'll have one. They look pretty similar (it's just a master cylinder) but I'll take a few photos of the markings if it helps

No worries.

Not cheap but if you work on your own car it's well worth the investment.

More than welcome to come have a look if you want.

Most appreciated. Once things settle down I might well take you up on your kind offer.

Best wishes for the New Year.
