Hi

Time to sell my Porsche 987 Seal Grey, PCM, full leather, Xenon, 19 Carrera S alloys, Bose, multi function steering wheel, climate, coloured she

Purchased new from Porsche Park lane... 1st March 2005.

serviced from OPC for first 8 years, then independent... but missed

one service and also like misplaced  service book (in house move - may be able to find it) £42k when new. 74k miles now.. generally in good condition for age but alloys showing age.

How much should I advertise for a quick sale?

I would be trying very hard to find that service book, or get copies of invoices etc from the OPC and independant used.

As said, if you are planning on putting it up on here to sell, you do require the minimum post count.

yep, searching for the service book this weekend I think it may be in my other home up North, so if I can't find it down south will head up there next week.. been advised that value is basically nothing without service book but find that hard to believe.

so difficult to price.. but also as I missed one service a couple of years ago I think that may affect the value as well.. I was thinking of selling it between 7-8K.. this really is the bottom of the market when I check on Autotrader and should be worth that with the options, one owner and low mileage (for year)?

It would be great if I can advertise it on here, but appreciate that may not be possible as I have just registered on the site, even though I have been a quiet reader of this site for over 15 years!.. I remember Araf from back then.. can't believe he is still on here.. also remember R1Fly guy and D8eano or similar names from way back when

Depending on how quick you want a sale, I’d start at £9,500.

don’t knock your car, you have a pretty rare offering. Not the car as such, but the ownership story

a 1 owner car of that age is hard to find, Porsche’s usually have lots of owners even in a few years. The Service book is gold though, can you get a replacement stamped by the OPC?

It might even be worth trying a couple of traders or Porsche Indy specialists like Ashgoods, Maundrells or Cotswolds, perhaps even 4 star classics who specialise in low owner stuff?

Don't worry too much about a missing service on a 15 year old car.  Also long as there is lots of evidence of big and small things being done most buyers of this type of car won't be too concerned as it shows it was looked after.

I'm glad you found your old log-in. :)

Your first post says you joined 16 hours ago so I was just about to delete when I had a read down and saw you posting from a 13 year old username.

As an old member, if you make out the advert and pop in here with me tagged (put @ in front of my name and it should come up in a blue box), I'll move it to the sale section for you.  Make sure your mailbox can accept messages as people will have to PM you to make contact as you won't be able to post on the thread once it's in the advertising area.

Good luck with the sale. :)

Answering your price question, Autotrader does all the work for you now.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/sell-my-car

Put in the reg and the mileage and it will give you a suggested asking price, a value and typically what webuyanycar.com would give you.

Thanks Araf! For this post and your knowledge/ information over many years! I will drive up North this week and find the paperwork and then advertise on here as you have advised. It’s a 2,7 and I am only moving to Macan to be more practical will be back in a 981 or 718 in a couple of years time (as soon as the prices make it affordable for me)

Thanks guys! I want to price it to sell no point putting it on too high and just sitting there...9.5k seems reasonable:... also if i can’t find it i will contact the OPCs to get it restamped

I traded in my 2005 two years ago. 35000 miles, FSH, two owners. Bose, full leather, climate control etc. But a Tip.  Recent Pilots and all new brakes. A couple of dings that the dealer sorted before resale, otherwise mint. Got £10,000.

Just tried the Autotrader link out of curiosity with my car and it did give a price I would deem reasonable.

I just wonder how much knowledge the app has of the options on each individual car.

As we all know there should be a significant difference between the value of a total poverty spec car to one with say £15k options.

I just tried it as well, and my car has gone up in value since I bought it - woohoo!

With regards to the OP, my advice would be to do a search with similar details to yours on Autotrader, Pistonheads, and eBay, which should give you a range of values and a good idea of what to expect. From what I have seen, prices vary wildly though, so it's not an exact science...  My gut feeling from what you've said so far is between £7000 and £8000.

Mine has lost about 2500 in 3 years so maybe I paid a little more than I should have but that’s okay. I think people in general think it’s worth more than it is including myself. What other car out there is such a bargain really? I  can’t think of anything else to get to replace it so I think it’s a keeper.Maybe...

Don't all get too excited.

A lack of new cars leaving dealers means the 2nd hand trade is short of cars at present.  Even WBAC seem to be offering above 'book' for cars at present and the auction prices are crazy.

Not sure what you are basing this on.  If you spec a car on lease - say 3 years?  Any optional extras you add get totally paid for within your lease agreement.  The book value will not change.  Options help sell a car, they don't add any book value.  Model, year and mileage is all the guides work from.

You never ever get back the cost of all options. Some may be considered essential, like leather, but some are just down to taste.
