Hi all,

Looking to buy a new Boxster GTS - does anyone have any advice / recommendations on how to secure within a reasonable time-limit.  I have seen some of the horror stories so want to avoid those if possible.

thanks in advance.

Ring round a few OPCs and register your interest - quite possible you’ll pick up a cancelled order/ allocation.  Otherwise plenty of nearly new - or showroom cars if you’re flexible on spec.  E.g Wolverhampton had a new, very red BGTS in the showroom yesterday that’s not advertised - I’m sure other Centres are in the same position, either not willing or able to advertise new stock Boxster/Cayman.

Having gone through this process, it's quite stressful, wondering if you will ever get your car.

I think now most centres are not taking orders as they are being told that due to component shortages, production is going to cease at the end of this year. There will be a few trickle through next year but not many.

I spoke to my OPCs, where I have orders in from November 2022, today and the comments were not overly positive with less than expected allocations so far this year and even if a car gets allocated some key items (for some) such as Bose and LEDs may not be available at time of build.

I would ring every OPC and register your interest and hope for a cancellation that isn't taken up by their waiting lists, as unless it's a cancellation or the supply/demand/component availability changes dramatically, your chances are slim at this time.

I had done the same, even chasing demos and had a surprise call today offering me a choice of 2 cancellations at list price, one of which I bought.

Thanks for this information.  Happy to pay list price. Can you let me know which OPC?

I have had a deposit for a BGTS down since beginning of Nov 21, and that was a cancelled order slot. Estimated allocation Dec 22 with delivery Mar 23.

Been in recently as not heard anything about allocation or freeze date.  Seems at my OPC still 3rd on list, one currently looking like allocated and with hardly any cars in 22 and likely allocation of only 2 cars coming through in 23, now likely allocation is end of 23 - so a full 2 year wait.  Getting a bit twitched as still no guarantee of an allocation and with the EV reportedly likely 24, not sure how long the current production will continue.

That's really worrying for anyone hopeful of getting one of the last ICE Boxsters😱

Unfortunately it does tie in with what the 2 OPCs I have deposits with and the one I am lucky to have secured a car with are saying. It seems to have changed quickly as mine were optimistic having their 1st qtr allocations granted, but seemingly nothing further for qtr 2 and being told the continuing component shortage means less cars than expected for the balance of the year and further restrictions on options available.

I wonder if they are now holding back the engines and the more specialised options such as Bose and LEDs to ensure they have sufficient to meet the demand of the new Spyder RS whilst getting through the Boxster bodies with the 2 litre specials, which you can order easily?

Their 2nd car is going to be their new demo model and won't be for sale, until they have registered it put a few miles on it and can probably sell on at a mark up.

Its Python Green.

A friend was in their recently and noticed a red one. If it's the same car it is a customer car waiting for March registration...that's what he was told...but who knows😏

Their current demo is Acid, which is one I had considered but would have faced divorce making it an even more expensive purchase. The 2 new cars arriving in March they gave me an option on were Python and Arctic. I chose the Arctic and the Python will be their new demonstrator.

Yes not sure I could live with the python everyday.  Could probably go red at a push but much prefer the greys and black tones as prefer to be inconspicuous.   I am surprised someone cancelled their order.  Love the GT4 look as well but worry it would not be good daily driver.

I could certainly live with Python. Acid would be pushing it. But these bold colours need to be seen in the metal, photos rarely capture the impression accurately.

Hexamu there are a few of us who were nervous about bold colours, but I don’t remember anyone who regrets their choice. They work so well with Boxsters and they get a great reception. I think because they are small convertibles so there is less paint. I’ve seen an orange Macan - no thanks!!

Marbella had a Lava Orange Macan in yesterday. It looked awful.
