MD7
I called into the A Plan office in Wilmslow on Saturday afternoon, having seen their advertisement on this forum and spoke to a nice and helpful guy with a view to getting a quote for my replacement Porsche. I gave the guy all of the r3 le ant details and he said that he would call me back on Monday with a quote, but so far I've heard nothing which does not exactly fill me with confidence. I've been with LV for years and their quote came out more than £200 cheaper than Compare the Market. Can anyone recommend any other firms that are good for limited mileage cars? Boxob
Just now, Araf said: Weird. They insure our Ute which is an out of the ordinary import that's been heavily modified. They have a limited number of insurance companies they deal with. A-Plan provided a competitive quote but when I mentioned spacers the company would not insure. The quote with spacers (from another insurance company they deal with) was not competitive by some margin. Another of our sponsors helped me out.
r1flyguy
I received my renewal from A-plan but wanted track day cover and guaranteed value. unfortunately they couldn't help on this occasion not for want of trying though. Ive taken out a policy with a company recommended on PH, guaranteed value legal cover NCB protection and cover for 5 track days for the same price as A-Plans renewal quote which doesn't provide two of the above items. Not sure it's fair to name the company on an APlan thread so if you want the details, PM me Edited September 27, 2016 by r1flyguy

MD7
Thanks for your PM and recommendation r1, interestingly whilst I did not receive a call back from Wilmslow I did get a call from a very helpful lady from the Thatcham office yesterday morning, who came up with a good quote but not as good my current insurer, she also pointed out that their insurer would use Porsche parts and approved repair centres, which I had not thought to ask about before. I have a couple more to try, when I get time including t1flyguy's recommendation and will let you all know how I get on.
r1flyguy
No problem, the genuine Porsche parts/repairer is part of my requirements too, to maintain the warranty. Hope you get a good result, keep us posted as if you find a better deal than any recommendations then would be good info for fellow members

Simo_UK
Our insurance is up for renewal too. I've got to be honest, I tried all of these 'forum discounts' - A-Plan, AIB, Adrian Flux. After going all retro and spending 20mins on the phone going through all of your details (had forgotten how bloody laborious that is!) None of them were much different to the comparison websites. You can probably get a better deal finding a good option on the 'comparewhoever.com' sites and use Quidco to get cach back from a direct quote/purchase. Just my experience.... Unfortunately the quotes were in line with the comparison sites. Car was insured for 8k miles, two drivers, clean licenses and max NCDs

Bluebottle
A-Plan are pretty good, they also sponsor a Land Rover forum (defender2.net) and I had my first year's insurance for the Landie through them, sadly they got beaten on the renewal but I'd definitely check their prices when renewal is due. big mike
Highly recommend A Plan, were very helpful and quiet competitive for my insurance, i actually paid a little more for the Boxster as I felt good about the way the girl handled everything. map
Have to say I am pleased with the service and policies I have with A Plan - both cars are heavily modified (engines, brakes, suspension and drive trains in each case) with both are covered for proper business use and daily driver mileages although the SC hasn't been used nearly enough in 2016. Have to say A Plan Thatcham seem to be one of the few who don't "sigh" we we start running through the mods. The SC was a bit of a challenge this year but the guys at AP Thatcham sorted it out for me and at a net lower price than the previous year. CMA
Had A-Plan when I had my kit cars, stayed with them when I got the 981, got my Audi with them too. Prices have always been around the best for me. Having had a no fault claim with them on the Audi earlier in the year I can say the claims process went smoothly too. It's not just the bottom line price that's important if you have a nightmare claiming for anything. But claiming through them was pain free (although that pain may come on renewal, we shall see....) Hario
Hi do A-plan provide normal policies which would allow it to be used as my main vehicle with street parking? Unsure as I thought they were a classic policy only insurer (garaged only) etc. regards Harry
