Nice updates mate, mines a manual but didn't get the shifter surround painted, you don't see much of it on the manual though. Think yours looks fine with the contrast.

Brakes bleed without any major dramas. Only had one nipple that had a blocked whole all the others came loose without too much force.

The brake bleed kit makes this job so easy. Original fluid looked clean and only a few small bubbles. Happy now its changed.

Removed side grills and primed ready for spraying tomorrow.

The caramel wheel is still by far the quickest way though!

The caramel wheel arrived today, but I haven't plucked up enough courage to use it yet...

Clay bar over the car. Ended up spending most of the day doing that. Very satisfying as the passes got smoother. Used Bilt Hamber medium clay.

Also, changed the air filter - first time doing that and the longest it’s ever taken to change an air filter on a car! I’ve never removed the engine cover before and one of the five torx 30 screws just wouldn’t budge. Took ages to get that loosened. Removed the old filter but really struggled to get the new one connected to the air intake. All done, back in the garage and will be waxing tomorrow.

Yes it is amazing awkward changing the air filter on the 987. It took me ages and when you look it seems straight forward but I don’t know if there is a trick we are missing 😂

I think you need to be a contortionist with very small hands and immense patience. Unfortunately I possess none of those skills🤣

Just waxed it following the clay bar yesterday.  Don’t think it’s looked so good for a long time (apart from the dent at the top of the drivers door!).

I'm pretty sure a dent specialist could remove most if not all trace of that dent.

Not something I was expecting but I put the car in for its MOT today - a straight pass with no advisories. I had expected to have to wait until MOT stations are operating again but it turned out my local garage is still doing MOTs and it seemed a good idea not to wait for the rush when all the overdue MOTs have to be done. Plus, I was fairly confident there was nothing it would fail on so a case of strike while the iron is hot!

Good note.  Might be an idea not to wait the full 6 months and put it in when my preferred testing station is offering tests to all not just essential workers.

A lot of the PDR guys now pull the dings from the outside when access is limited. As long as the paintwork is original, it's not an issue doing it this way.

@987RG now I'm on laptop that looks as much a crease as a dent, I hope you can get it out.

BTW why not start your own Running Report thread? Your contributions are a bit lost here, and you are certainly doing work to it; nice to keep them in one place (and useful if/when you want to sell!).  You could start it by re-linking a few of these pics as a summary.

Thanks for all the comments/thoughts around removing the dent.  Something that I'd like to investigate further once things start to return to normal.  Any recommendations for dent removals in and around Northampton would be welcome.  Will upload some close up photos of the dent.

good shout on the running report @Menoporsche, not something I had originally considered, but with more time on my hands at present I've managed to do a fair bit more than planned.

Will ask one of my colleagues for a PDR guy in that area for you.

Looks good 👍, the Ali colour suits the car. Did you glue them? I did my 981 also this week and used Gorrila clear, used black mesh as it's Agate grey.

proofed the roof yesterday with Fabsil Gold and it's definately darkened it up a smidge.

black roof once more #Fabsil

That looks good!   This is on my list of things to do whilst I have some time on my hands!

washed the car and roof

vacuumed the roof and used a sticky roller to get off any remaining lint

opened the roof, wedged a dust sheet between front edge and windscreen and closed the roof again.

kept a wet cloth close to hand for any splashes on bodywork or glass.

brushed on using a 2" wide brush. Instructions say keep a wet edge, and waited for a cool still day.
