The market is all out of sorts, recently sold our daily driver and the asking prices Vs trade values are miles apart.  You still see the high asking prices but everything has slowed down so you are literally getting buttons from the trade. Fortunately because the asking prices in the dealers are still quite high here are some private buyers happy to pay reasonable levels for good examples but there are fewer around than before. Seems to me like the trade has to take a reality check on what it's asking for old stock.

I called our local MG Dealer last week to see if they recognised 'MG Car Club Members' and 'MG Owners Club' on the MG Affinity scheme (still waiting for an answer). While I was on I asked about this car;

As you can see it isn't at all obvious it has 3,500 miles on it and at £33,000 you could buy a brand spanker on the Affinity Scheme any colour you like and a type II cable included. When I pointed this out and mentioned there are SEVEN cars almost identical to his for LESS than £30,000 on AutoTrader he said they were simply cheapening the brand, fer instance,,,,,,,, (n.b. there are SIX cars cheaper than this one!);

I've been saying it for ages now, there are fewer and fewer fcukwits running around with more money than sense and there are only so many people that don't have to pay for their cars, Kents 😜

On another note, my mate called on Saturday for a chin-wag and I asked him how his Nissan Ariya was going. Turned out just before he was due to collect it the Nissan salesman contacted him to say his VW iD3 had devalued so much they were no longer able to accept it as a trade in. After an awkward conversation he was put through to the sales manager who just talked nonsense before saying they were no longer accepting EV's as trade ins. The irony of my mate having an EV on order with them seemed to be lost on them 

My prediction is 'you ain't seen nuthin yet',,,,,,,,,,

I think he missed the irony in his statement. It's along similar lines to the derisory trade in they offer for your car when they currently have an almost identical (or inferior) specced car THEY are selling for 50% or £5,000 more. I have to say I  have zero sympathy for the knuts as they are irony impaired  

 

Similar stylee to the whole Action Man versus the Action Force POS you're foisting on your poor wee lad for Christmas,  I  bet poor old Santa will get the blame for that debacle

Its just for his wife to ferry the kids around local.  Who cares about the UI.  Steering wheel and pedals should be sufficient.

He's trading it in for a BMW iX3 now I believe.

As to how much, to the best of my knowledge it was on PCP so future was guaranteed but I don't know how much it was guaranteed for.

I loved my black MG Metro in 1986, was the pick of my mates cars by a fair margin and one of those was a VW Golf, which was yellow!

Had a 1.6 Maestro in metallic gold with chocolate brown interior as a company car in 1990. Done a fair few miles in that car and it never failed. Came with a Maxol Fuel Card though so that softened the blow.

My Pop's first brand new car was a 1984 metallic gold 1.3 Montego with a chocolate brown interior and a chocolate gearbox, bizarrely the gearbox was stamped as a VW part. Learnt to drive in that car and was a much better car than a mates dad's Ford Escort.

Which amazes me with how much old Ford's now sell for, they were shyate back in the day so difficult to see how they've improved to warrant the asking prices.
