If you ever have the inside pull cable break, make sure you get the old style one. Not available new anymore either. Good point. The cable on the driver's side looks a little frayed. I shall put that on the "To Do" list and get the cable in anticipation.

I know how frustrating it is to get a silly observation on your MOT pass on mine this year the tester quoted an observation for screen obscured because I forgot to remove my phone holder that was attached to the window before it was tested. It would have been a clear pass if not for that. It was a very long and expensive day 😪 but made nicer to have a nice company again sorry I can talk the legs off a chair. I guess you mean PASM mount as the 'bush'. Yep, costly. A pair of a/c condenser rads and a dryer are unfortunately pretty common Boxster requirements. Keep enjoying it! RalphyBMW
I’ve actually done some work on the Boxster today for a change! When ordering various bits for our MINI, I spotted a Bosch starter motor for the Porsche at £170 without a core charge. Mini now finished, so I could move the Porsche into the big garage to attack the starter. Took about 2 3/4 hours from start to finish. I cheated and removed the plenum, still needed the long extension from the front for the bottom bolt, but otherwise access was way easier. Getting the MAF > TB pipe off (and back on again) was a bit of a chore, but not insurmountable. Just needs a wash to get rid of the spider poop and an excuse to use it! phazed
Today, picked up the O-rings to replace the oil cooler. Sadly, two were wrong. Will return tomorrow to pick up the two correct ones and the AOS which has come earlier than anticipated. I have already removed the left hand inlet manifold and fuel rail to facilitate fitting the 987 airbox. Removed the AOS today and while having a cleanup in the area decided that while I am in there, I will remove the right hand manifold so I can clean up in that area, check the breather pipe that runs under the manifold, treat and paint the fuel rails as they are getting a bit rusty in places, and generally have a tidy up in that area. Will also when the engine is running, remove the return hose to the power, steering reservoir and run fluid through the system so that the old very dirty fluid is flushed out and replaced with the correct fluid which I already have That won’t be complete till later in the week and then if all goes to plan, can try out the new airbox, pipework, throttle body, and Plenum, and see if I can feel a difference. tomorrow, I have an even harder job, looking after my 20 month old granddaughter from 8 AM! 🙃

phazed
It was their error . I should have realized as they were less than half the size, but as they all came in a little plastic bag, I didn’t question it!

999mch
New stalks fitted, including cruise control. Had intended to repair the old one (indicators) as it wouldn't have passed the MOT, but last night a vital spring made an escape bid, never to be seen again ! Rang OPC this morning and £300 later, a brand new four stalk. Problem was I told the misses that it was about £260, forgot the VAT. She says that all her clothes shopping prices will now be exc. VAT !
phazed
Not much this week. Not much this week. Stripped out both inlet manifolds, fuel rails and other gubbins pon the top of the engine. Installed the 987 airbox and decided to clean all the breather pipework. Yes, you guessed it, the main one that crosses the top of the engine was as brittle as a brittle thing! I was going to try and repair it but bit the bullet and ordered a new plastic part that should be worth no more than £12 from Design 911 for the princely sum of £85 delivered. OPC quoted approximately £135 plus VAT! Now you see where the money goes. Pipe should be delivered today so I can get the top end assembled with the new throttle body and plenum. Jimbop90
I didn't do it, but I don't care, I'm sharing my dodged bullet. Left it with MLR in Stoke to replace the Crank position sensor, they said it took nearly 6 hours to get it out. Feel totally vindicated in bottling out of attempting the job after reading Iain M's thread. Bad news is it hasn't cured the problem. Cam position sensor next. phazed
I am certainly not an expert but wouldn’t the problem if one of those two sensors show up with a decent code reader?
½cwt
Not so much what I've done, but it is its 24th Birthday.
phazed
The long breather pipe that goes across the top of the engine under the manifolds arrived today. Got about 1 1/2 hours in the garage late afternoon. It really is a pain fiddling the breather pipe into position, through the nearside manifold which was off anyhow, fitting the manifold, injectors and fuel rail in position. Making sure that the inlet seals aren’t disturbed while faffing around. Using my third and fourth arm to hold wiring and other bits out the way. A job that I don’t want to do again! Next session will be to fit the offside manifold, injectors and fuel rail and then of course down to the business of fitting the bigger throttle body, plenum and tubing. I look forward to that once the other manifold is in place. The joys of upgrading and DIY…

pacificjuha
Changed new tires to front, installed coilovers, lowered the car to 118mm front and 119mm rear, did the full laser machine alignment - yes, all this while learnig bunch of new stuff. Shoud have scales and fully adjustable rear toelinks in a couple of weeks, so that time will do the corner weights as well... and re-do anything that does not feel right after test drive regardless that alignment report looks fairly fine for now. Skipped the test drive due to surprise snow arrival yesterday and today 😬 If the fresh snow disappears, next weekend will be the first chance to test out the car on track (Alastaro) with new suspension and alignment. RedBarediver
Yesterday - removed bumper and exhaust. Today - removed aluminium diagonal braces and plate under the gearbox, took off sway bar and disconnected drive shafts. Also, popped off gear shift cables and took out the slave cylinder. All with the support of @TROOPER88. Everything now ready for the clutch job next weekend. Th whole rear of the car looks naked but all in a good cause. The transmission mounts look a little done for to be honest so I'm sourcing some replacements from eBay. Might as well sort that out whilst we're in there.
