Going to work on my front suspension over the winter as my bag of snooker balls is getting bigger and bigger! Dave Hi Dave Yeh I’m mad for it, one responded to the hot axe, however the other had to be cut out, but worthwhile, really tightened things up, just need to replace rear wishbones and ARB,bushes at some point Mick

craigjam
Replaced one of the roof tension cables as it had frayed and broken - that was not much fun! Removed the drivers seat to install an underseat subwoofer and found 1.45 in loose change - result! Also found this warning sticker, which must have been under the seat quite some time - where does this start off? Now I have to stop driving with the roof down at -1! Menoporsche
Interesting. Wasn't aware of that temp warning for a 987. You can drive at minus whatever, but they don't want you to operate the roof at low temps. Wonder why.
mark-yorkshire
Took my car out for a blast around the Strines, down Snake Pass and back up Woodhead Pass. Unfortunately the Woodhead pass had delays due to roadworks. Saw a few Boxsters and got a cheery wave from a 987.2 owner. It’s a shame this glorious weather won’t last. I was also looking at other options, such as the Cayman R exhaust, which is a larger diameter pipe, with his modification carried out. But does the Cayman R use the same cats/manifold as the Boxster? I'm thinking I'll fit sports cats. Not sure whether to go with Top Gear at £1,300, or Carnewal at €1,095. If I went with the Top Gear option, I feel like they're better manifolds, and I could sell my standard ones to recoup some of the cost back. I went for the topgear manifolds on my 987.2 2.9 and it threw a cel every 10 miles, topgear no help at all so invested in elbows for the rear lambda sensors which cured the cel, mot time it only just scrapped through emissions! I always assumed it was a catch-all for people trying to open the roof when it was frozen to the windows / seals / latch. had one of those little cards in previous 987. It’s not present in my current one, wish I had noticed when I traded it. (and. Sadly, if someone has one and doesn’t want it. I will buy it off you for the price of a pint because I like that kind of stuff).
1973mjg
Replaced a broken push rod end cap which looks like it has been broken for a while, now the roof looks straight when it goes up! Cleaned the leather seats and gave the inside a general tidy up ready for a few days away this weekend. Decided it was time for a change of CDs so I removed the CDs from the autochanger (they'd been in there for 18 months!) then found out that our very out of date CD collection now resides in the loft so purchased one of those bluetooth/FM radio transmitters, seems to do the job. I'll see how much I use it before deicding whether to invest in a more permanent setup.

Had these on previous convertibles, usually to do with trying not to fold the material when it’s cold as it’s not as flexible and can cause problems. Our old mk1 mx5 had a plastic rear window and wasn’t meant to be folded when cold - I forgot this one cold, but sunny winters day and ripped it right down the middle 😫
Paul P
Previous Audi convertible was all about “drop the roof and go do it all year round”. Think that handbook just said “be careful that the roof isn’t frozen in place when lowering in sub zero temps.” once had to run it for about 20 mins before it was all de iced but no harm to it after 170k miles and 15 years of dropping the roof whatever the weather. if it’s that much of an issue then car knows ambient temp and can prevent you if it needed to. I take it as a “use your common sense” thing if it’s frozen. Leave it.
Greyanglia
Newbie here and first post. Nervously took my new purchase (2008 987.1 2.7 with 62k) to a local Porsche specialist for a brake fluid change and a decent inspection. Stressed for 2 hours thinking I'd bought a Boxter with all the nasties looming and it was pronounced in very good nick. Bit of scoring on the rear discs and an odd stain on the roof lining and that was it. Phew! Absolutely love the car and very pleased I found BoXa.net as it's given me hours of decent reading and food for thought. 😀
