Drrncour
Dropped the car off to Precision Porsche to get the rear suspension sorted (Cracked rear spring). One Job I didn’t want to DIY
andy987
Removed the passenger seat to check that module, good news is that it is completely dry. Can't figure out how to get that plastic cover off though!

If there is play is is probably in the steering arm joints on the ends. A lot less work and a lot cheaper. Also if you are going to the effort of doing the bump stops, do the top mounts too 997 343 018 01, this will tighten up the steering. Look for Sachs 802 553 they are the OE supplier but are often available at about 30% of the price from Porsche.

Freeman
Picked up the car today after repairing the seals and respraying the the driver's door as the paint was dull and started to flake. The painters did what they had to do but also decided that the car will look much better if the front wings also get a coat, so they did it without an extra charge (OK, they have charged an extra £4.40 on top of what we agreed). Then, they called and offered to polish the whole car for £150+vat, it was a very simple decision. The car does look as it has never looked before, it wasn't cheap but it I enjoy it.

Good luck with the work.

The driveshaft only costs £1200 from Porsche and certainly doesn't need £1200 of labour - you're being scammed. I had mine done for around £500 after buying a cheap secondhand shaft off eBay for £100.
Drrncour
Hi. 👋 I’ve called Porsche and the driveshafts are close to £1,000 each (it’s a triptronic if that makes a difference) and I need 2. 😞 (dont think I put that) so plus labour is £2.5k. These are from very respectable Porsche specialists. So I think the price is about right. I’m going to look at 2nd hand ones, they don’t do after market that I can find. If you are to the north of Bedford, or are prepared to do a bit of a hike, try Paint FX in Kettering. Tim is a restoration and custom specialist familiar with Porsches, not high volume insurance repairs. Typical back street body shop that looks a bit scruffy on the surface but good results. He's done front (£240) and rear (£278 with minor repair) bumpers, I sent both in stripped down, on the Boxster and also some work on The Better ½'s Golf Cabrio, front wing with a repair, front bumper with a repair and bonnet £888. I'd deliberately bought the Golf which was a bit tatty as I knew he'd do a good and fair priced job on it. Edited April 21 by ½cwt

Have they rusted through on the outboard end? Seems a few have reported this recently. Anything less and it should be CV boots or possibly an inboard CV joint. Outboard joint can't be changed unfortunately but a good lower mileage one from one of the reputable breakers would save £s. May be give the replacement a good clean and corrosion protection/paint on the outboard end to make sure it has a long life.

Drrncour
Thanks all for the replies and suggestions. They are rusted at the ends and not at the Boot, the passenger side is the worst. Its a 2006 and over 100,000 miles now so I’m going to get it done, just need to decide on the approach. MOT due end of Feb, 😞 however this isn’t a daily so have time. I’m in Mid Sussex, so plenty of specialists to use. Although I’m trying to DIY what I can. Thanks all for the suggestions and responses.
