I estimated 14-15k which is about right in my opinion.

In a auction, whether that be Ebay, CC or BCA, cars sell for what they are worth.

For those who thought this was pricey, find me another one.......

Looked a lovely example and even had the Porsche PCM which is circa £1500 on its own.

Good car, fair price and would have been 5k more had it been a manual.

Spoken like a true car salesmen 🤣

Hopefully prices will correct themselves from the current stupidity in due course 🤪

In the current market £15k seems there or thereabouts. That one looks nice I'm sure but I wouldn't put it on a pedestal myself as the thing we all proclaim here which is condition, history and maintenance seems not all that on this particular car.

I'd think mine worth a similar value in today's market but I'd describe mine as higher mileage but upgrades/mechanically very good. Would I take £15k for it? Yes as it seems a fair value but also no as I can't think what else to get for the money!

In what way do I sound like a true car salesman?

You come across like you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder tbh.

As for prices correcting themselves in due course, what on earth are you talking about? The car in question is a low mileage Anniversary model. There is only one direction prices for such cars is heading.

I simply cannot fathom why an individual would write such utter rubbish on a public forum. We should be encouraging traffic to this website and yet you come up with such rubbish such as 'a fool and his money...'

If the new owner of that Anniversary now frequents this site, they are not going to be best pleased reading the utter rubbish that you have posted.

Perhaps because you usually guess (sorry estimate) the hammer price AFTER the event.

Always easier that way I find.

Also as a self-proclaimed expert and purveyor of 986's if anyone has an interest in talking values upward,,,,,,well you see where this is going.

Are you serious?

It is my belief/opinion that ALL vehicles are going to drop in price in due course.

If someone is daft enough to pay a premium then fine but don't try to convince everyone that it's worth it to EVERYONE.

Some would pick a newer 987 for the same money simply because it's a better? car in many ways.

Ohhh 'we should' should we

The new owner would be made welcome and wished 'Health to enjoy his new steed'. We would likely later find out why they had paid what they had for that particular car, maybe, maybe not.

'utter rubbish' that's the second time you have used that phrase, perhaps you hear it a lot.

Here's a statement for you;

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on a PUBLIC FORUM, especially this one. And you know what they say about opinions ;)

But anyway poor old Troop I think he needs a bit of Christmas Cheer and a little less humbug

53 is the wrong plate. I once saw a car like that on the wrong plate when looking for one. Passed over it in the end.

I find him an offensive racist.

I can and do read what he posts - as I do yours - given we’re sharing opinions mine, of @EXY, isn’t aligned with yours.

Unlike most on this forum I have dealt with @EXY “off forum” and that was an entirely positive experience - in much the same vein as your customers describe you.

Whether or not @EXY is offensive is a matter of perspective - there are any number of posts on this forum from a range of contributors that I would describe as narrow-minded, tiresome, over-bearing and righteous to the point of fervour. But that’s OK because I’m here to learn more about the car I drive, share my own experiences in the hope they’re of interest to others and maybe help someone with the more esoteric parts of the ownership journey.

You of all people should know this is a broad church.  There's some on here who will snipe at you, at every opportunity so don't think that upsetting people is EXY's private domain.  You've blocked him so that should be an end to it.

For me, if it’s an auction, then it’s the most accurate price? What someone is actually prepared to pay vs what someone thinks their vehicle is worth.

Nail on the head.

It is the easiest and most accurate way to determine what an items actual worth is.

Some people do not understand this.

If I have a 986 that has not sold for some time, I will list it on Ebay as a 7 day no-reserve auction.

How do they get on? Respectable price, some disappointments, totally unpredictable?

Auction is one way but not the only way to achieve a price. If you think that then there is no value in having sales or marketing people across all sorts of different industries. At the end of the day you have to market and position the car to the best target audience. That is t necessarily a Collecting Cars audicne or another auction. There are various marque sales specialist bidding and I'm sure they win some. If course that is the best price for that sales format at that precise moment, but they buy to resell so clearly another moment and medium is probably going to attract a higher price!
