Finbox
Checked the insurance offers, my season is six months and the full comprehensive insurance was around 250gbp. It will be activated 15.4, then I can start thinking getting the battery back into the car and hoping it will start smoothly!-) Road tax will be another 120gbp or so. iborguk
Drove it to buy cake , roof down in the sun (cake was safely stored in the frunk) and then tidied up the B Pillar and roof frame side trims with Polytrol to make them look shiny…

½cwt
+1 on the Polytrol. Was impressed how well it is standing up on my scuttle covered when I washed it yesterday. Well worth a 100ml sample tin.

Both of these interesting - I have polytrol but didn’t realise it would work on the roof trim. And Gtechniq is the thing for rubber is it? The foam tip helps to spread and apply the liquid.

iborguk
So I gummy’d the seals yesterday and they still looked pretty tired. C4 seems to have improved the look some what.
iborguk
if you want a big bottle of gummy then Aero Cosmetics Rubber Care works well. I must have got it on a Amazon Special as I seem to remember paying about £15 for this. Edited April 11, 2022 by iborguk
iborguk
@BBB A bit more C4.

So it says plastics (so at your own risk!) on the C4 product but I have heard of some detailers using it on rubber. https://www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/auto/wheels-trim/c4-permanent-trim-restorer/ https://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=143716&highlight=rubber So I cleaned the seals, gummy'd them and allowed that to soak in/dry off. I then used low adhesion masking tape to protect the paint and windows. I then used a tiny amount of C4 which I find less gloopy than the polytrol for some areas. A combination of some provided applicator sponges and a small artist's paint brush got into the awkward bits. iborguk
@BBB now of course I've got to do the rest of the seals....

Yes it works on metal - I didn't know that either until a re-read of https://www.owatroldirect.co.uk/product/polytrol/ This is how my B pillar side-trim looked previously I need to get my flocker out too.... EVO Chris
looks great, dark colours have the best shine when they are clean, shame they don't stay like it for long.

Tried it this morning for the first time using a cloth dabbed in Polytol but it looks a bit patchy.

From memory I think the trick is don't apply too much and then polish it in afterwards with a lint free cloth to spread it evenly...
