ATM
Yeah I'm pleased I didnt give up. I'm pleased that car works too. Well it sort of works. I'm annoyed I had all those gremlins and turned out the battery terminal was loose. I'm certain it was tight last time I checked it so it must have come loose at the specialist who had it in for repair. Learnt my lesson there. Paul P
5 hours ago, ATM said: Turns out it just needed some fluid. Swallowed the whole litre. I took it for a drive and it all works. Ok the gear change is a little jerky but it works. Plugged in the fault code reader and nothing. All clear. I managed about 45 minutes and was just getting near to home when I had a stutter changing gear and the yellow message so I nursed it back. Parked fine so still got 1st and reverse. Now I guess I need to figure out what to do about the leak. Clearly its clutch side fluid and I'm wandering if perhaps its coming out from the cooler or the pipes going to it. There's definitely some black magic required for the clutch fluid - gearbox needs to be at a certain temp and you have to put the box in "fill mode" to get the right valves open. Also - there is a PDK reset/calibration somewhere in the diags ( maybe PIWIS only ) and there is a "torque loss reset" sequence for PDK - which is mentioned in another thread This reset is a prerequisite for a PDK calibration - although I have no idea what that entails. Great that you have been able to clear the codes and concentrate on what is an actual current fault - and good luck with the next steps

Skidd
😍 Move the 911 out of the way so we can have a better view of the Boxster 😍 Seriously though, Carlos is a top bloke. This is what BoXa's all about. I'll enjoy that with the Mrs on the patio later. Glad you're sorted buddy 🤙

Yeah I'm quite relieved as I'm moving soon and that means the car needs to move too. I was starting to think about a low loader to tow it. ATM
It's not moved. I need to figure out where its leaking but no idea where to start with that. I was thinking if I can get it to a garage with a lift which is willing to jet wash the area while it's in the air then maybe they can run the engine with wheels just spinning and see if they see any leaks. Anyone else have any better ideas?
Duffy3074
Get it up on 4 stands, wash the underside carefully by hand, dry it off and get it as clean as possible, pop off any plastic covers that have caught oil to give you access. Fire it up (out of gear initially) and wait and see if that’s enough to generate the leak, nothing visible? Then pop it in gear so the drivetrain moves. Wait for the oil to appear...... I usually lie underneath when doing this but there’s an element of risk to the unfamiliar so maybe not!
GTSMarky
As above on axle stands and lay cardboard down to catch the drips. Then go in and have a look once it's all turned off. Might be easier with the wheels off too..
ATM
I'm moving house at the moment. The car has been sat stationary and untouched since march. I put 2 litres of clutch side fluid into the gearbox which it swallowed before just starting to spill out. Fired up perfectly as the battery was fully charged. Drove perfectly too. Much better than last time when I only put 1 litre of clutch fluid in. Last time it was a bit jerky changing in the lower gears. I might go for another little drive now once I've out some air in the tyres....
shiftspark
Have you managed to sort the car out ? not seen it for a while on my daily walks (not that I am not a stalker lol)
ATM
I've moved. So the car has finally got some off street parking. I've also been driving it around quite a bit but not far as I dont know how long my clutch fluid will last. Car drives absolutely spot on. I'm super sensitive now towards detecting slightly jerky gear changes but the odd one I get has been minor so far and must just be normal service. Might pop to Asda later for urgent essentials. I've got a mat down under the back of car so I'l see how many drops are appearing. In other news I spotted a PDK box for sale for one of these on Ebay. Its only £2500 but the donor car had done 75000 miles. I dont think that's too bad considering it might include the clutch packs and he wants £7500 for the complete engine. Makes me wander what you can break one of these for.
bagss2
The 981 makes the 996 look so dainty in that picture. Of course, 996 (and older) 911s are dainty by modern standards. You have a lovely fleet @ATM. Cheers, Baggers.

Especially when you look at the big high flat sides of the 981. It really is like a rectangular Box.
shiftspark
Looks like plenty of parking there, did you ever get any damage done whilst you lived near me as the path is narrow there and people like to hate Porches?

ATM
BMW had damage on all 4 corners and more 981 only one scratch which looks like vandalism and a couple of small marks on the front bumper which is brand new and freshly painted and the car was never driven 996 had 3 or 4 scratches plus that gouge which has pushed in the wing and the bonnet dented I suspect a lot of the damage could of been the neighbour with his large motorbike which he used to park in his house. So he had to get up and down the curb in all weathers and drive along the narrow pavement and then turn into and out of our shared path from that pavement. ATM
Parking on the street is never ideal. Finding somewhere with enough drive space has been a challenge. I made parking a priority. Ideally I'd love a massive barn but we can't have everything can we. The new place isn't perfect but the cars are off the road now. I can't start rebuilding the cars ground up but I can tackle jobs which might mean leaving the car in pieces on axle stands for a few days.
