Bike Loon
So after the insurance claim was resolved, I got a "How did we do" email from Axa. I took the time to convey how they were about as much use as a chocolate tea pot and how if the claims handler had put half as much effort into getting a response from the 3rd party insurer, as they did to trying to get the repairers to reduce the bill, it would have been sorted much quicker. I also pointed out that it only got resolved when I contacted the 3rd party insurers myself and submitted the footage directly etc. I did not realise that my feedback would start a proper investigation into how they handled the claim. I have now had an email from them apologising for the issues and they could see various emails from myself went unanswered and mentioned how they could have been more proactive in chasing the 3rd party insurer. So long story short, they have sent me a cheque for £225 for my inconvenience. Edited September 11, 2023 by Bike Loon 4

Bike Loon
They probably have the minimum amount of claim handlers trying to deal with far too many cases... but yeah, nothing will change. Its easier and cheaper to throw a little bit of compensation at the small percentage that complain

It was never raced or rallied at top level as that variant, only the 4x4 version was. For best investment you really need a 2 door Sierra, a 4x4 Sapphire or an Escort. The is also the RS500 but as a road car they are big money for very little gain other than kudos, in some ways worst to drive than the 2 door or the 2WD Sapphire as the homologation add-ons didn't benefit the road version 227 vs 204 PS but lots more turbo lag and added drag. Not sure RS200s would have been £35k when Scoobies were around. The nadir was about 1988 after they had been banned from International and National competition at the end of 1986, except rallycross. Would likely have been climbing again by mid-90s (Impreza came to UK market in late '93 (some had K plates IIRC or they may have been imports/press cars). I worked for a supplier (Crosby GRP) to the 6R4 programme in '87 to '88. Could have had a basic 6R4 for £17,500 +VAT (only 15% back then) but not for road registration unless for competition purposes only, they were still legal in the British Rally Championship as n/a engines in Gp B had restrictors fitted for National competition so only the 6R4 qualified. Got my first (and only) tug from the police in a Sapphire Cosworth when I was 19. Central London, my bosses car and I'd been in it for ooooh.... 8 mins. Going too fast up Pall Mall, if I wasn't wearing a suit I'd definitely have looked like I nicked it, probably still did. Got read my rights at which point I shat myself think I'd be going to jail. Had my details taken and allowed to continue my journey after they'd called through to the office to confirm I was supposed to be in the car. Amazingly, heard nothing for several months and then a letter plopped through the door. Page one going on about what a scumbag I was, page two - we've decided to let you off but beware. 🥳

Bike Loon
So this week I have established that the car was £60,490 new... a mere 50% extra over the standard list price! I also managed to complete covering 2,000 miles in the car under my ownership.... a bit shockingly bad really considering I have owned it for 6 1/2 months!

Bike Loon
Nothing to report really...Car is now on 81,800 miles... when purchased on March 15th it was 79,410, so now 8 months of ownership and managed a mere 2,390 miles. Car continues to perform perfectly but with my commute being a total of 20 miles a day I am really not doing it justice. Still tempted to sell and get something a lot cheaper given the lack of usage but we will see. I think if I was offered north of £20k I would have to seriously consider it. Just sold the motorbike and not looking to replace that so the bank balance is at least looking ok. Might throw some money at the house, nothing like @Araf's spend though 😬🤣 Edited November 9, 2023 by Bike Loon

Bike Loon
If I had a garage to keep it in I would. I did not get the ST205 in the end for the same reason. Maybe I should buy the Cosworth and park it in @Araf's vast garage that is being crafted

Maybe I should buy the Cosworth and park it in @Araf's vast garage that is being crafted My kids would prefer to fill the proposed garage with other peoples' cars and bikes, as then they won't have the headache of sorting it all out, once I'm gone. I'd look after anything in there as if it were my own. If you're okay with me cannibalising your vehicles as I need something to get another one running (as that's what I'd do with mine) then I'll let you know when it's all finished.
Bike Loon
So the garage said the puncture is not repairable (big surprise there huh) On the plus side, they are a Black Circles garage and they have 10% off Yokohama tyres at the mo so a pair of rears fitted is £365... although they are not in stock and I am not off next till Saturday so thats me using my mini tyre compressor to put air in the tyre twice a day for the next few days! Still, at least the rear tyres will match the fronts to keep some people happy... the N rated tyre purists will still be mad though

I had a heavily discounted supply of them when I worked at PalmerSport so wasn't too much of a concern for my Scoobies.
