I rang Spyder Performance to try and understand myself what has been done wrong and apparently is more common than not which I thought was quite concerning. I know you obviously pay a bit more for specialists but would have though that some generic things like suspension would be covered by a garage , apparently not!
Quite worrying really as like you said can be very dangerous

This (may) help.

I was only doing about 50 on the A24 heading south single lane and nearly ended up in oncoming traffic. Worst thing was SWMBO was in the car and shyate herself, blaming me for pushing it!

Blimey, I find it difficult to conceive how even the most back street of garages could do this. I think the message is either do it yourself or get a very reputable garage, preferably an indie.

I hear good stuff on here nowadays about Kwik Fit etc., I was a Snap-on dealer back in the eighties and I still have nightmares about some of the stuff I saw in those places back then. For my generation its a bit like Skoda, you know they are now good......................... but.............................

You can download the PET diagram here https://jasmine-porschalink.co.uk/porsche-pet-diagrams/  Design 911's website should also have exploded diagrams of the shock/top mount combo.

Picked up boxster from garage😀

I Supplied parts from Spyder Performance. They fitted new front top mounts and bearings, new bump stops, inner tie rods and a quick 2 wheel tracking just to tie me over while I next fit the new lower control arms and diagonal supports just for the experience. Then back for the 4 wheel alignment.
Bill £200 which I feel is amazing as I have no idea or tools to do either and I still currently have my knuckles 🤣

I don't understand how a garage could miss bits off, when re-fitting.  Unless they were already missing, so they didn't notice they had spare parts.

Hindsight, you should have given the garage the exploded diagram of the suspension.

Trust me when I say, sometimes the Indie's with there big fan base are NO better.

I prefer to work on my car myself, as I know its been done to the best of my ability...just getting a bit old for it now.

Wanted to change the fuel in the tank so ran it down a bit.

Just paid for 61 Litres of Esso Premium+ 99 Ron Ethanol free petrol - think I could've got more in as the nozzle didn't quick click.

The tank capacity is officially 64 Litres.... so whilst I got my wish of minimising "old" fuel I was probably very, very close to running dry.  Oh well.

Want to make sure the fuel system is flushed through with and kept on this Esso formulation in preparation for the next set of upgrades (intake and remap).  The current map is tweaked towards higher octane fuels so we want a fair dyno benchmark ahead of the next tranche of work.

Took my Boxster for it’s MOT today and it passed with no advisories well chuffed. As a treat for passing it got a wash and polish and cleaned the leather with Pears soap and then used a leather conditioner on the seats. Bring on the summer weather!!

Installed with my son to our 2001 Boxster new TRW  discs, refurbished and painted calipers with fresh ferodo pads on the rear axle. Fronts were done same way few weeks earlier also during winter 'hibernation'.

Today we also flushed the brake system with new brake fluid. Next week is a time for new tires to be installed and then we're ready for the road :)

Up early and drove it across town with the top down for my vaccination. Then went to blast round the A720 home but got stuck in traffic for 20 min, RTA ahead. Then home for a wash and wax, and put the half cover on in preparation for the next few days of rain.

Forgot to alter the time on the clock. I guess I could just leave it six months....

7 month for BST, until last weekend in October...

986 MOT this morning. Straight pass and no advisories.

Did the 987c front discs and pads on Saturday (well a mate did, on his lift). Only one of the old brake pads had the anti rattle plate on the back! Why refit just the one? Unless they were unaware they were actually there in the first place. The (old) pads didnt have much wear, so had recently been replaced and the anti rattle plate was not stuck to the back of the pad (like it should be) so assume last time was just a straight pad swop.

Plus, most of the wheel bolts were starting to fall apart. Back on the phone to Design911. They arrive tomorrow.

After all the fun and games with the top mounts/bearings and all components fitted supplied from Spyder Performance took in for front tracking. Considering that even the inner tie rods were changed things didn’t really look to bad.

p.s Dean from Spyder was very patient and a great help so recommend!
