….stuck some sound deadening stuff under the boot lid to cut the resonance of the DesignTek exhaust (which booms terribly).  Has had a positive effect, much less  intrusive.  Boot acts like a huge Bass Cab,  not now….

Nice, I've got some sheets spare as i'm mid way through upgrading speakers as well as the same exhaust - will try later on today!  Do you have the valved or unvalved version?

Did you use a drill, DA polisher or by hand?

It was that cheap DA I bought... it was fine with the lights but didnt have the torque to do the car polish so sent it back

I also lifted the carpets and did the boot floor.  Made a nice difference and I had some left over so I did under the bonnet which surprisingly also helped. I guess it's another resonant space - probably amplifying front tyre noise.  Doors next. Strangely the exhaust sounds better. Getting rid of other noises I suppose.

Just used a soft brush and a warm water & milton solution to clean the soft top. Surprised how much green comes out of it when you couldn't see any to start with. First soft top clean in 2 years. Will get around to fabsilling it in the summer. Roof now ready for next doors cat Egor (who bears more than a passing resemblance to Adolf Hiltler ) to park his hairy white bum on it.😪

Unvalved - permanently ‘on transmit’ 😊

I'll get some. I'm happy with the sound of my car but would like less of it in the cabin.

I also did the engine inspection covers and the rest of the bulkhead. Actually the covers prob made the most difference.

I have a once-a-year thing where I lubricate all the moving points on the roof system. Car cleaned, serviced, and ready for the summer again. Following two new Michelins on the rear the first drive out showed a surprising lack of rear grip - do these need time to bed in? It was spinning the rears far too easy, the pressures are correct.

I love driving this machine so much..................

there will be some "release agent" on new tyres - but i doubt that would be significant - suggest check the pressures - garages seem to have a fast and loose attitude to pressures.

Asking the stupid question - they have been fitted correctly? I.e. Inside and out and correct direction?

most tyres need a good 200 miles or so to be working optimally. take it sideways the first few days.

Thanks for the feedback. Tyres are fitted correctly. Just checked the pressures at home with my own gauge (tyres cold) and they appear to be about 5psi too low front and back. Won’t be using that garage again. Ordered a more accurate pressure garage too. Will top up and try again today.

Ordered new front tyres because ever since I changed the wheels and they came with a set of 245s on the front, the tramlining has been very bad. I'm hoping the move back to 235s will sort it out.

£268 for 2 Michelin PS5s is pretty good, I thought....

Also ordered oil and filter for my first oil change (in my ownership, not ever)...

Fitted today and went for a short drive - unbelievable the difference! I know the tyres are new but the old ones still had 3/4mm left, so they weren't bald. They were 5 years old - maybe that was a problem?

Either way, new tyres the right width are a revelation - the ride is back to the relative comfort of old and I didn't notice any tramlining (although I didn't get on to a bad road to check).

Morale of the story: when the factory suggest 235 front tyres, they know of what they speak.

I wouldn't automatically expect slightly under inflated tyres to demonstrate less grip; counterintuitive. Hope it works.

The only time I have ever had the correct tire pressures when having tires fitted at my local tire specialist was when the boss did the work himself. That is the sad truth. Even had 40 psi in tires that should’ve been 22 psi After giving them instructions.

How's the tracking?

I have a DA polisher and some cutting compounds. Should I use them or buy the kit, but which one?

You can try with just a compound, but the results are not as good and no where near as long lasting.

I do have a bit of experience on this subject 😉

and if you do not use something to protect from UV after, they will cloud over even faster

Had an 8am appointment for the MOT on the basis I could watch it being done and then carry on to work. (All went to plan with a clean pass 🙂) I particularly like to watch the brake test to see just how well balanced (or not) the brakes are, side to side and front to back. What really surprised me though was that the tester gave a good heave on the handbrake and the car jumped out of the rollers. I had no idea the handbrake was that good! The tester was impressed!

Tracking is fine and i can't see how being under inflated a little would make much difference. I will reset the pressures and burn a bit more rubber!

How do you find the contis?

Yeah good. Prefer them over the PS4S personally, good turn in, feedback and outright grip. Don't know what they wear like though
