So through reading the Owners manual last night, I discovered another optional extra that is available. So this morning felt behind the bottom of the steering wheel and sure enough....

Of course it has a heated steering wheel!

I have cleared the codes and will look them up in a bit and report back , it has not come back yet though.
Interesting tyre combo, Pirelli P Zero fronts and Nankang rears 😁

Quick picture of it as it sits. In normal daylight it is excellent, couple of tiny scratches which should touch in but apart from that it is damn good.

Nice re steering wheel.

What codes did it report ?

My 986S came with Nankang tyres on the rear, it had failed MOT previous year on low tread on rears and had only been doing 400 mile or so a year for 3 years.  They are not dreadful, but as ever any new rubber will always make the old seem worse than they actually might have been.

Wear them out as you get used to the car, then upgrade the grip.

Cam position sensor left bank. I have cleared it and its not come straight back so we will see how it goes.
There has been no issues with its driving so fingers crossed.
All of the small marks that were photographed on the auction have come out with a bit of compound apart from one.
Notice on the spec that @T911UK has posted for me it have Xenon plus dynamic cornering lights... I called them Litronic in error 😅

I have ordered new Crested centre caps and I need to adjust the roof elastic both sides and give it a proper clean and decent wax and it should come up fab.

Yeah I am not gonna junk the tyres, will quite happily run with those. Still tempted to list it for £22/£23k and see what happens but then I would be sad if it sold lol

Did I see a cruise control stalk in one of the pictures too?  That car is more a case of what option boxes haven't been ticked, than those which have. :o

Great bargain, great spec and great looking car.

From what I've read, those DFI engines are a bit prone to the oil contaminating with soot quite quickly. This is not good for cam chains. Another reason why 2 year/20k mile oil service intervals are a bad idea.

I'd have a specialist with diagnostic equipment check the cam positions for peace of mind.

Has a USB / Ipod connector in centre arm rest as well.

I retro-fitted that to my last one.  Load all your music on a USB stick and after pressing 'AUX' twice, you can scroll through your music and control the USB from the head unit. :)

Or if you’re an iphone user, get a secondhand bovee and cable for the ipod connector and select tracks/albumn/playlists via bluetooth.

other thing to check with the phone bluetooth if it has later software adding HFP in addition to rSAP as rSAP is rubbish nowadays.

It’s tempting - you effectively have a nice 986 as profit in that after a decent clean up

Good shout on the USB etc guys.

So I gave it a quick wash at lunchtime. It really is a cracking car, minimal stone chips on the front.

I think it will benefit from a good clay bar session, I am off work next week so we will see. At least the 5 spokes are easier to clean than the Sport Design wheels I had on the last one!

Couple of money shots.

This is shaping up to be an excellent thread, and I will be watching it with interest :thumbsup_still:

For what it's worth, if you have any doubts about those rear tyres I'd be inclined to ditch them in favour of a new pair to match the fronts.  That's just me though, I'm quick picky when it comes to tyres, and always like to have a matching set all round.  Your car definitely deserves the best, after such a great start to your ownership.

This ^^^

Or with a genuine apple 30 pin to lightning adapter you can hook up a modern iPhone "directly" - I have tried both setups and settled on the direct wire method - but not a lot in it.

I thought I was doing well in the options stakes - but so far you have me with PASM, Memory Seats and Heated Steering wheel - although I am looking at a retrofit for that at some stage.

Have you found launch control yet ?

Easy come, easy go.

Those wheels are my second favourites after Spider wheels, damn sight easier to clean I expect though.

I have read up on launch control in the manual, I don't think I will be testing it out anytime soon.

I did have launch control on my R1M as well..which was massively entertaining :D

I will leave the tyres as is and wear them out, I can put Sport + on and then the car can go a lot more sideways as well 😆

Also looks like you have the isofix car seat and passenger airbag disable setup - another one of the option boxes ticked.

can we just get a short list of the options not ticked???? :)

Do you think it may have been a dealer demo car first, hence all the options?

Could have been.  Mine has a decent set of options (not quite the full set that this one has) and it was originally a “showroom car” at Porsche Reading.

that or a dealer principals car.
