Was there as well! Didn't see you! Didn't get there until after 2pm mind.

Yeah I did keep my eyes peeled for you both but that would explain it, we arrived about midday & were certainly gone by 2pm.

So glad you gave me the heads up on how the ‘sat nav’ worked 😂 How was your route book? There was a couple of errors in the Reading one so was a bit of trial & error in places. Good fun though & something a bit different to do

A couple of errors on the Cotswolds one as well - a mileage error saying in 2.2 miles when it was 3.2 miles, which threw people off - especially as you were told to set your trip to zero at Cornbury House so you would know where you had gone wrong from the trip (if you went wrong ), plus a few people didn't see Morrisons on the set of 3 or 4 roundabouts in Devizes near the end, so saying take the 3rd exit on the Morrisons roundabout wasn't helpful ( must have been a small Morrisons local ) - they could have put go over 3 roundabouts and follow the sign for through traffic - saw a few Porsches coming the other way who also had to turn around at that stage - but good fun, a few challenging roads and pretty sure that I left the ground a couple of times on clear bumpy a roads 🤣 a bimble it was not - one of the guys who attempted it solo was given a google route map - took him 2 hrs to do his route from Reading - another guy who did it solo just followed  us - until he got stuck behind a trio of learner bikers - I though he would overtake and catch us up, but the female rider managed to fall off at the traffic lights while stationary - so he ended up using google to get to the finish.

Some nice roads and some quite challenging ones - did 170 miles all in all -  from Saturday night driving to the hotel to getting back home to Wootton Bassett - will deffo do next year and try and do the Rotary club Dursley classic & sports Car Rally next year as well 🤪

Fitted a seat belt buckle stopper to the drivers belt, only had the car a week and it’s been annoying me, can’t understand why someone wouldn’t fix this for 99p!

I also replaced the boot release switch in the sill earlier in the week plus the two front tyres since they were dated 2013.

Finally, booked in for a service and general check over in a weeks time at my local trusted indy, hope he doesn’t find much wrong.

Almost a duplicate of my first few weeks of ownership!

One of my first posts was something along the lines of “Pain in the neck” and without the cheap plastic clip I would have sold the car by now!

Good luck with the service, hope nothing untoward found 👍

Drove it, first time in maybe 2 months.
Admired it after I parked at destination.
Noticed that I’d forgotten to display my new insurance sticker, and that the MoT had expired while I was away.
Drove it carefully back home, rather sheepish.

Yesterday - cleaned seatbelts, applied wax after a wash, a bit of dry ptfe spray on a squeaky sun visor, then went for a lovely early evening spin in the sunshine.

Need to fix the rattling wind deflector next. I’m sure I’ve read this is common and there’s an easy solution - can anyone post a link that describes how to do it please? Thx

Have a read of this. Can’t say I had any input or needed to try the suggestions, but if you need to find anything I always find it easier/better to search via Google than the forum’s own search function

Thanks for the link to the post.

Mine has started to rattle so will need to get it sorted before it decides to remove itself from the car !

I put a couple of felt pads around mine (the kind you put under a dining chair to stop it scratching a wooden floor), others have used blue-tac.

Went for a lovely drive, came home, parked up on the drive and jumped on the computer in the room that looks out over the drive.

The fans came on after I turned the engine off, but then after 50 minutes I still hear them and started to think that's not normal, as normally they switch off after a few minutes.

Just spend 20 minutes googling potential issue's about fans that stay on too long, broken thermostats and what not and just as I'm about to go back out to the car and leave the room, I notice the noise is actually coming from this :

Buy Dimplex DXMBCF Black Tower Fan | Fans | Argos

Turns out the noise I've been listening to and panicking about is just the bloody fan that I forgot I switched on... 🤦‍♂️

Left work early and went to the beach with the dog since it was warm and sunny.

When I got home I found the roof was completely dead, after some mild panic since I can’t get in the garage just now I checked the fuse which was fine.  I then started pushing the microswitch in the roof in and out a few times and it kicked back into life, is this a common problem and should I change it?

Yup not unheard of! A liberal spray with electrical contact cleaner (some even say WD40) is the usual first solution before resorting to the nuclear solution.

Conducted a North side invasion of the Kent PCGB regional night at Brands Hatch. Surprised a mate by turning up, ate some good pub food and talked Porsche nonsense after my Boxster there driving “roof down”. Wandered around and looked at other peoples fine cars. Late summer win of an evening.

Took me a minute to work out how you had got a picture of my car parked up outside the venue I was in…..

Was a good evening. Lots of pork porn there.

Fitted a cruise control stalk recently and fellow Maidenhead resident Richard kindly programmed it for me.

Removing the steering column cowl was not quite as straightforward as you might hope. One of those cable ties with a prong pushed through the cowl to secure it proved particularly inaccessible and tricky to deal with. I also had to go out to purchase some smaller torx drives as I didn't have a No 8 in the box. Have you noticed how every time you tackle a new job, you seem to need a tool you don't have? It also proved fiddly to reassemble the two halves of the cowl so that they aligned properly.

Anyway, job done and it's working well. Funny how a little indicator on the dash that has been there all the time but never seen, suddenly lights up to tell me the cruise is ready for action! Next week I'm driving 1000 miles to Scotland and back and am really looking forward to having the cruise available. When in average speed sections especially, it's so much more relaxing to be able to set the speed and then focus on the road, not the speedo.

Treated the roof with Fabsil Gold. Quick and satisfying job as it makes it nice and black too.

I haven’t used it before, is it best to apply two coats? If so, do you apply the second when the first is completely dry?

Thanks

Yes and yes. Dries pretty quickly though.

At last I got my Designtec switched exhaust working!

Even since fitting the exhaust I have never been able to get it to switch (stuck in loud mode), so decide to try and find out why.

After taking the plenum and associated parts of, i traced the vacuum pipes and the pickup from the vacuum pump hose had a snapped pipe fitting. Manufactured a repair and it now works a treat!  :thumbsup_anim:

Also found that the AOS had not been seated correctly since i replaced it a few months ago, bottom pipe had not pushed into the hose correctly, hoping that is the culprit for my puff of blue smoke sometimes on 1st engine start.
