Guilty.

Well I was in Libya when it all blew up in '67, and had a very interesting time getting all British forces into El Adam from the desert plus all the vehicles and equipment dumped for training exercises then shipping it back to Italy via Malta and bringing up the rear to recover any breakdowns of a very long column of vehicles spread over two days until we got back to Germany. (Apart from some equipment got back via flat bed trains, disguised as it had to go through Switzerland who don't like that sort of thing. There are other stories that I won't post, but I learnt a lot!

Put mine up on the axle stands and doused the coffin arm bolts in WD attempting to swap them out tomorrow!

Good luck, admittingly WD has its uses, you ideally you want a proper Penetrating oil, if you are given components a chance to soak IMO.

Replaced the nearside amber corner piece of the headlight that had gained water ingress and gone black inside, been meaning to do it for years finally got round to doing it today.

Time to relax now after all that hard work, it literally took me minutes.

Well they are out! Near side ok once I had woken the neighbours up beating my pickle fork!? Driver side... Bitch! Looks like it had been replaced before and unfortunately the bolt that holds it to the sub frame was totally corroded inside the control arm bushing. My son was braver than me (often the way when they are not paying!) and took a disk grinder to the bush and bolt. two cuts either side of the arm and it was out. Just waiting for a new bolt now. I have bitten the bullet and ordered two new tune forks as there was a hint of play in both of these.

Productive day spent in the garage today with my trusty specialist...  First time I've had a chance to give it a full going over since I've bought it, so a bit of a "getting to know you" day...

garage_zpsh27so6g3.jpg

As well as a full check over, here's the list for the day, as well as a few small discoveries/fixes we made during the day....

- Oil and Filter Change (Shell Helix Ultra 5w40)
- Gearbox Oil change
- PAS fluid change
- Brake and clutch fluid flush and change (Motul RBF600)
- Full set of coil packs
- Re-coded the OBC stalk to the dash
- The Litronic self-leveling connection was re-connected as it wasn't actually attached, so not working!
- Sagging seat bases were sorted out (the foam had pushed past the metal frame, so it was all pushed back up and supported with the judicious use of some nylon webbing straps.
- And finally a full set of Brembo discs and pads.  It seems the front pads are actually made by Textar based on the stamps:

The old discs were a bit past their best:

There's something really satisfying about a nice new set of discs....

Even managed to give all the undertrays a clean.  I did have to evict a couple of resident snails in the process!

Meanwhile I dressed my tyres after getting them all kinds of dirty on yesterday's breakfast run?

some days it's the little things. ?

Funnily enough @Loz987, that is all I did to mine today too. They do say somebody somewhere maybe in another universe is doing exactly the same thing as you. Mine needed it also after the jetwash yesterday morning following its first country A/B road blast in 2 weeks.

I drove it again today to the inlaws and the gym. Nice little run even if a little cold and busy rosds.

As per thread in the For Sale, I removed my short shifter as the missus couldn't get on with it, personally I loved it,and fitted the 987 shifter .They say it's a big improvement over standard, a bit sceptical as I could not really see that much difference. However it feels much sweeter even the Gearbox cold, barely any notchiness from first to second. I will miss the short shift experience but if keeping harmony in the Bally household requires a smoother shift well ayho!!!!

gave the foot wells a quick hoover.  Noticed the drivers mat wasn't quite sitting symmetrical.

One side had came out of the floor, the other had come unstuck from the matt and stuck to itself !

So a quick "get back where you belong" and a couple of minutes sorting out the sticky side, before replacing with some 3M VHB tape,..ticked the box that I had done something this week to the car, although washing it was actually on my plans this weekend.

Good ol' Lidl rattle gun takes a a wheel off in less than am minute :)

Hmmm...maybe something wrong with mine? It's not strong enough to start undoing the bolt and won't do up to torque. I have to fight using a breaker bar initially and a torque wrench to finish. Do you?

PS why have you removed the spacers?

Is yours the rattle gun?  mine will take the bolts out in like 30 secs for all 5, it only tightens to 100nm max as a safety feature so I torque the rest.

It took me longer to get set up than remove the wheels :)

Yes, electric Lidl rattle gun (rather than air). So your rattle gun with undo 130nm torqued bolts?

Why have you removed the spacers?

Sounds like you have the exact same impact wrench then, it supposed to have up to 320nm for release and 100nm for tighten

It will remove the bolts torqued to 130nm very easily.

I bought the 4x9mm spacers last year, I couldn't get the front wheels to balance right so took them off the front, I've now taken them off the rear as the cars in for some work Thursday and it's a good time as any to take them off, they were on for the stance only and I no longer feel need for them.

Must be something wrong with mine then as I can rattle away at them but the bolts won't budge! Have to crack them first with a breaker bar and socket.
